AFL-CIO LOBBYIST: "Gephardt better damn well be the pick ... We've done too much for Kerry to get screwed this way. A governor from Iowa ain't going to cut it for our membership. It's been tough enough selling Kerry to some of our people." (The Prowler, "Kerry Flies The Flag," The American Spectator Website, http://www.spectator.org/dsp_article.asp?art_id=6698, 6/15/04)
ROFLMAO!! This is priceless! I just love it - Kerry gets Blackmailed!
I remember the Iowa Caucus, most people were saying Gephardt was a lost cause, no one wanted him.
Well, all except some punk that was making a stink saying "It's not over, I want to talk to whoever's in charge!"
Why do the Democrats insist on tying a boat anchor around their necks?

Most VP choices for any candidate are driven by who will bring the most to the ticket, but Kerry has to find the least damaging pick to his base. It's hilarious. I wonder if the media will act surprised when they find out that many liberals will abandon Kerry due to his final VP choice.
Pissing off the blacks is a lock.
Little Dick has stood in the shadows as an also ran for a long time. If they throw his candidacy away as a VP on a losing ticket, they don't have to put up with him anymore in the primaries.
All Kerry needs is Reno. They can share clothes.
There was a cartoon strip a while back called Bloom County. They had a fictitious "Meadow Party" and would occasionally let us glimpse their inner workings. While they were looking for a ticket one of the characters said, "Let's just nominate Jesse Jackson and get this over with." "No, we'd alienate half the country," was the reply. "Well, how about Jesse Helms?" the first offered. "We'd alienate the other half."
Your comments made me think of that strip.
With apologies to Berkeley Brethed, who would probably hate being quoted in FR.
Shalom.
Gephardt is as inspired a choice as Jack Kemp was.
Yawn.
At least I get the sense that Dick loves his country though. Unlike Kerry.

Like anybody under 60 in the rank and file pays attention to what the international says...
