Excellent!

This shows that our guys were extremely careful on the preparations.

That's why the war was such a failure!

Instead of dropping pictures of leaflets we should have dropped actual leaflets! Sheeshh...those military guys are as thick as two short planks.

Ok, wise*ss... guess you would have preferred a longer title that said:

Have to say, I'm suprised how relatively amateur they look- I expected something slighlty more polished. As it is, it they look like somebody with a copy of Paint Shop Pro or something knocked them up five minutes before they were due to be printed.

Very interesting nonetheless though, thanks for posting

Actually, "Pictures of the Leaflets that were dropped in Iraq at the start of the war" would have been better! You could eschew the "that were", it's an ugly construction.

:-)

And I bid you goodnight....

I saw a UK TV documentary about the psy-ops (sorry, no online refs known) during the war. Basically they did have guys out in the Middle East making these things as they went along, reacting to events on the ground. I wouldn't be at all surprised if they did use Photoshop.

I think they are pretty good, though I wonder how effective they are.

I'd love to find a good book on this aspect of the war.

Oh yeah, think I remember that programme being on actually. It'd certainly make sense if these were being made on the spot, although most of the messages they give are fairly general. I'm surprised in a way that the Pentagon/MOD etc didn't have large stocks of professionally done leaflets on hand for just such an eventuality- as it is they look rather endearingly rushed to my eyes.

It would be interesting to know how effective they were- I can't help but imagine the Iraqi troops found some of it just as entertaining as the Coalition forces found "Bart Simpson is having sex with your wife" etc in the first Gulf War. O good book on it would be worthwile, I suppose one will appear with time
