While we are watching our citizens lose their heads in foreign countries, we are reaching a finality in the war for our borders and sovereignty.
Why is Miami such a good location for the FTAA headquarters?
"I would ask trade officials from everywhere in the hemisphere, where do you and your family want to be stuck on the weekend?" Jerry Haar, director of the Inter-American Business and Labor Program at the University of Miami's North-South Center. "Someplace where the weather is lousy and it takes hours to get to the airport, and where hardly anyone speaks your language? Or a place that is comfortable in so many ways, where it's also likely you will have friends and relatives?"
It is hard. We citizens do not get to vote on international governances yet we will be bound by them. I know, I know, we vote for politicians who we hope will represent our best interests but unless we have the big bucks I am afraid we lose. What I do not get, is our govt. has a hard enough time dealing with America yet now it seems everyday there is a new international group, meeting, etc. that we are involved in and paying tax $ to. If we had a small govt. in the first place (like the one envisioned in the Constititution) then there would not be enough govt. agencies and politicians and tax money to support this crap.
I don't have much optimism about our borders, but just recently it seems, the Border Patrol has begun to arrest an estimated 1 in 4 of the illegals crossing, as well as some already living in parts of Southern California. Obviously, not enough, but a start.
