Beautiful. Since you brought up the Olympics, how likely is an attack in Athens, in your opinion? Seems to me that the Islamists may want to avoid an incident that could cause a massive shift in world opinion. The nature of Olympic crowds would probably preclude them from targeting a specific nationality; the risk of whacking dozens of "friendlies" may keep them at bay.

I suppose we could see something similar to Munich, however, in which the terrorists isolate a group of victims and let it play out on the world stage. The Israelis are always a fine target for that; most of the West still regards them as a nuisance. I fear the second best target would be American athletes.

I have been watching the security buildup in the city for over TWO YEARS. Cameras everywhere, MP3 armed police on every corner, rapid response teams at the ready for any contingency, and radiation detectors online now. Though their hospitals are the typical socialized medicine fiascos. I feel a bit more confident about going there for the Olympics.

I don't know. I would bet not due to the massive effort and expense but there is always the nutcases. The DOT doing boneheaded BS like this does not help. I wonder how many are clinton leftovers like the head of this department.

remember this is the rectal orafice who put in the ABSURD standard for arming pilots when he had a hissy fit over congress allowing the armed pilots.
