I wish his "Night of the Weak Knees" article got wider coverage.

"I'll raise the bet. Moore is part of the movement to bring morally handicpapped people into the White House."

Of course. That is part of their plan.

Will that do it for me?

Probably not much, but it might earn a few bucks for FR's attorneys.

I guess Hitch didn't like the movie. ;)

On a related note, I'm trying to figure out what Moore and his War Room has planned to smear Hitchens. They can accuse him of being a sell-out to the right, but that's a little hard to do when Hitchens eviscerated both Ronald Reagan and the Passion over the past few months. Or, they can do what the left has been doing since he called for Clinton's impeachment, call him a drunk. Big whoop.

Ouch!!

That's gonna leave a mark. Hitchens put the smackdown on Lumpy Riefenstahl, bigtime.

I'm not a Hitchens fan, by any stretch of the imagination, but this piece was peerless and timely.

Very nice, indeed.

Thanks for posting it.

I can't forgive Hitchens for his Reagan hit piece.

But Hitchens vs. Moore is a fight I'd watch. And based on this review, I'd be cheering for Hitchens.

Moore is the equivalent to the hit-and-run posters here on FR... they rant and rave but when challenged openly, all we hear are crickets.

Ya know, we must be pretty sad at this point to be so delighted that someone like Hitchens will deride Moore, that we're willing to give a pass to someone who has absolutely (and libelously) excoriated Ronald Reagan, Mel Gibson and even Mother Theresa.

No, sorry. I'm not that hard up yet. Hitchens is -often- almost as bad as Moore. I'll enjoy the feeling of schadenfraude as they rip each other to pieces, but don't ask me to take sides or feel that Hitchens is on the "right" side of -anything-.

When he actually comes to understand that a good 50% of his current views are still born of the exact same kind of malevolent propaganda that he accuses Moore of spewing, the day he has -his- David Horowitz moment, let me know, and maybe I'll change my mind.

Mornin' ! Thanks.

[I know you've seen this Happy, but posting for others to see].

I sent a bunch of emails out to theaters asking them NOT to show this garbage movie. I got a reply back.

Below is that reply. Below that, is my email:

The Little Theatre will be showing FAHRENHEIT 9/11, opening June 25.

[Here is my email she replied to]:

I plead with you to NOT show Michael Moore's movie in your theater. His 'documentaries' are hyped with half truths, deception and outright lies. Also, please see the note below.

Thank you,

Fahrenheit 9/11 gets help offer from Hezbollah

Samantha Ellis
Thursday June 17, 2004
The Guardian

The controversy over Michael Moore's Fahrenheit 9/11 just won't go away. The film, which is being advertised with the strapline "Controversy? What controversy?", has been rated R by the Motion Picture Association of America, meaning no one under 17 can see it. Distributors Lions Gate Films and IFC Films, opening the film next week, are appealing against the decision. The rating came partly because the film shows images of US soldiers abusing Iraqi prisoners, images Moore says he had long before the scandal erupted. He told Associated Press he kept quiet because he thought he'd be accused of "just putting this out for publicity for my movie".

Anger at Moore is building up, too. Pro-military lobby group Move America Forward is campaigning to "Stop Michael Moore from profiting in his attacks on America and our military"; Michael Wilson is making a documentary called Michael Moore Hates America; and the website www.moorelies.com is out "to expose America's fakest pseudo-muckraker".

Meanwhile, in the United Arab Emirates, the film is being offered the kind of support it doesn't need. According to Screen International, the UAE-based distributor Front Row Entertainment has been contacted by organisations related to the Hezbollah in Lebanon with offers of help. All in all, Tony Blair must be relieved that Moore is not going to make a film about him; Moore rebuffed the rumour in a message on his website headlined: "Sorry to scare you, Tony. Michael Moore was just kidding."
