CNN | CNN Live

Not sure if anyone else was listening but they said that he said that when talking to Leahy over Halliburton. The VP's office admited that the conversation was heated, but not to the language.

We have a good man in Cheney, just as America had a good man in General George Patton.

As with all words, there are proper times to use them.

Low blow, my friend. Just pointing out hypocrisy where I see it. Leave dead babies to another thread.

Okay, that's a good start.

Now Cheney needs to revive the grand old tradition of beating the other fellow with a cane so severely that he needs six months convalescence. That hasn't been done in far too long.

If CNN plans on running it, I honestly hope they consult with FCC Chairman Michael Powell, and if he says "What the Leahy. Go for it. We all need to laugh every now and again", that CNN runs it in it's unedited glory.

Sounds like Leahy wanted to pick a fight

Leahy's always shooting off his mouth.

Note to Leahy: Don't come to the fight with a peashooter if you're up against an F-Bomb.

Dems are pulling out all the stops aren't they. I've never seen such a rabid hatred of anyone since Reagan in 1984. I just saw a commercial for Moore's film Farhenhiet 9/11.

He did go to the DC screening of that pile of horse manure the night before, so, I think you're right.

Now THAT'S "Family Values"!! :)

I try......!! :)

Seriously though, how many of us learned what their favorite word was when the first child learned how to talk? My oldest son learned "Dada", "Momma", And "Shit" in that order. Mom needed to make a vocabulary adjustment.

Cheney get the big YES!!!!! from me on this one. Certainly it was an ooops!, but as NEETS said in Post 42:

Well, it just goes to show you that Cheney has bigger balls then Orin Hatch has.

Hatch is always asking Leahy "how high?"

His take on that one is so on target, we should send that to each and every gutless GOP member.

Read the thread. That's where I got the info. I did see another thread from the Boston Globe or something which seemed to indicate that the cause of this was Cheney being upset over Leahy and Halliburton.

Here's wire copy, which seems to support the report that Cheney was the one who lost his cool-- that Leahy didn't start it. Cheney needs to go back to de-caf. You can't let people rattle you. It's bad form. Now, Leahy knows that he has power of Cheney-- to push his buttons. Why give a weasel like Leahy that kind of power?

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - Vice President Dick Cheney blurted out the "F word" at Democratic Sen. Patrick Leahy of Vermont during a heated exchange on the Senate floor, congressional aides said on Thursday. The incident occurred on Tuesday in a terse discussion between the two that touched on politics, religion and money, with Cheney finally telling Leahy to "f--- off" or "go f--- yourself," the aides said.

"I think he was just having a bad day," Leahy was quoted as saying on CNN, which first reported the incident. "I was kind of shocked to hear that kind of language on the floor." "That doesn't sound like language the vice president would use but there was a frank exchange of views," said Cheney spokesman Kevin Kellems. According to congressional aides, Leahy said hello to Cheney following the taking of the Senate group photo on the floor of the chamber.

Cheney, who is president of the Senate, then ripped into Leahy for the Democratic senator's criticism this week of alleged war profiteering in Iraq by Halliburton, the oil services company that Cheney once ran. Leahy and other Democrats have called for congressional hearings into whether the vice president helped the firm win lucrative contracts in Iraq after the U.S.-led war that toppled Saddam Hussein. During their exchange, Leahy noted that Republicans had accused Democrats of being anti-Catholic because they are opposed to some of President Bush's anti-abortion judges, the aides said. That's when Cheney unloaded with the "F-bomb," aides said. According to Senate rules, profanity is not permitted in the chamber. But when the exchange occurred between Leahy and Cheney, the Senate was not in session so there was technically no foul.

I'm sorry, but the only person who needs a good punching here is Cheney.

For what?

Leahy is a nasty piece of work. 'Twas fitting, what our good VP said.

During their exchange, Leahy noted that Republicans had accused Democrats of being anti-Catholic because they are opposed to some of President Bush's anti-abortion judges, the aides said.

I read a different but very similar version of this story yesterday. You can bet this aspect of what Leahy said to Cheney has been modified and cleaned up. The original story (different from the two versions I later read) said Leahy accused Cheney specifically of attacking his--Leahy's--Catholicism.

Gads, but he is on offensive individual. We can only guess how nasty he was, but I'll bet it was pretty bad.

Only I didn't say "Fudge." I said THE word, the big one, the queen-mother of dirty words, the "F-dash-dash-dash" word!

Man, I love that movie!
