Four score for Gordon

J. Gordon takes another Bud Pole at Sonoma

Despite getting off the racing surface in Turn 10, Jeff Gordon's qualifying lap was good enough to take the Bud Pole for Sunday's Dodge/Save Mart 350 at Infineon Raceway.

Gordon toured the 1.99-mile road course in 75.968 seconds at a speed of 94.903 mph to take his fourth career Sonoma Bud Pole.

Rusty Wallace was second at 76.072/94.174 and Kurt Busch qualified third at 76.333/93.852.

I live in Sonoma County and when NASCAR races are held at Infineon Raceway it is the biggest weekend in the county from an economic standpoint. The motels and restaurants are jammed for 50 miles in every direction. When NASCAR races are held in a community it has a real positive financial impact on the community.

Answer to the question about three digit car #'s.


Why does NASCAR (or NASCAR.com) use three digit numbers for some cars?
Sometimes different cars (Owners) have to share the same last two digits of a number. For instance, at the end of 2002, Rick Goodwin [Team Bristol] indicated that he would be renewing his Winston Cup #54 because at the time, he had a full sponsorship from Toys "R" Us [which has since gone away]. After the renewal of his license this year, Travis Carter and his sponsorship [National Guard] wanted to use the Winston Cup #54 as well. Since no two owners can occupy the same number, NASCAR licensed the #154 to Travis Carter with the caveat that should Rick Goodwin enter an event, they would have to find another number for Carter's car to use at that same event.
In an effort for membership and points to correctly assign championship car owner points, NASCAR has to distinguish between Rick Goodwin (#54) and Travis Carter (#154). Therefore, each owner continues to maintain throughout the season the car number they were originally licensed with. The Same goes for Marcis #71 and Lepage #171, if they enter the same race and both make it, Lepage needs to find a different number.(5-26-2003)



Busch race qualifying now on Speed.........Baby Busch is on the pole so far. He spun big time after his lap, hung on without hitting the fence but flat spotted the tars!! Bass Pro Shops #8 is starting in top 5 so far.

I don't see the Aaron's Dream Machine at all even Mikeyless.....did they just not enter this race?

This guy from up north comes down south to go duck hunting and the guide picks him up at the hotel in the morning with the dog in the back of the truck and they head out to the country.

They stop at the first pond about 2 miles away from it. The hunter says “Man we aren’t going to walk that far are we?” The Guide says “Just be patient” and opens up the tailgate- the dog takes off towards the pond and comes back a few minutes later runs up to them and barks twice.

The guide says “ there are 2 ducks in the pond do You want to go shoot them?”

The hunter says “What!?, how do you know that?”

The guide says “trust Me there are 2 ducks in that pond, you want to get them or not?”

The hunter says, “I gotta see this” so they load up the dog and drive closer, get out and sneak up to the pond and sure enough there are 2 ducks in it. They bag both ducks and get in the truck and drive to the next pond. Same thing, out goes the dog and comes back in a few minutes and barks 5 times.

The hunter says “do You really expect Me to belive this?” The guide says “There ARE 5 ducks in that pond, You want them or not?”

The hunter says “O.K. let’s go” Bagging all 5 they have limited out for the day and they go back to the hotel to drop off the hunter.

The hunter asks if he can call his buddy and get him down on a flight and go back out in the morning. The guide says “no can do, I have to run errands tomorrow.” The hunter says “I’ll double your fee.” The guide says “no I need to run my errands.” The hunter says “I’ll triple the fee, my buddy has to see this first hand” The guide says “I’ll tell you what, you take the dog and go, the dog knows the routine, BUT TAKE CARE OF MY DOG!

“Deal!” says the hunter.

The next morning the two guys get the dog and head out to hunt. They stop at a pond down the road, and let the dog out. Well the dog is gone, and gone and gone. Finally about an hour later here comes the dog. Barking the whole way to them, just before the dog gets there he picks up a stick and runs up to them and starts humping the guys leg and shaking the stick back and forth, still barking with the stick in his mouth. Well the 2 hunters freak out and end up shooting the dog ‘cause they think it’s gone mad.

They drive back to town and find the guide and start explaining what happened.

The guide screams “YOU IDIOT! He was trying to tell you that there’s more F!#&ing ducks in that pond than you can shake a stick at!!!!
