Once in a while, I get to remind people about the First Amendment. It's disappointing when people who style themselves as conservatve cats think government can control what language they use. Glad I live in America, own a gun, and can tell them "scr*w you" in three or four languages.

Perhaps once in a while you do, but that remains to be seen on this thread.

There is nothing in the first Amendment that prohibits Congress from imposing language requirements on new immigrants. Similarly, Congress may prohibit people of various political persuasions from immigrating, even though if those immigrants were already citizens, their political expression would be protected by the First Amendment.

During the Cold War, candidates for the American Communist Party were allowed to appear on ballots in U.S. elections, yet open Communists could be prevented from entering the country. That's good, not bad, and the First Amendment was not violated.

Doesn't matter how many languages you can cuss; today, in English, you're posting out of your hat.
