The ACLU's war against religion reveals the unfortunate twist that Establishment Clause jurisprudence has taken in recent years. Instead of being read to restrain government, the way the founders intended, it's instead read as a restriction on religion.

The left will never, ever understand this.

no public display of religion is exempt

Unless it's pagan, of course.

The left will never, ever understand this.

The question is will the majority take this lying down. So far, yes, sadly.

Today we are worried about the ACLU's war on religion in the public places, but once they acheive their goal does anyone think they will stop until they eliminate religion in private? These depraved monsters are the same God-haters who crucified the Lord.

It is not just crosses and creches. I found the Memo-Gate revelations to be a real eye-opener. The power the ACLU commands over the congressional democrats is downright shocking, the revealed memos show them ordering democrat senators around like bellhops. These people literally swagger the halls and committee rooms of the Capitol, openly boasting that there is no law that Congress can pass and the President sign that they cannot find a friendly judge to strike down. This has gone far beyond a mere constitutional irritation, i.e. something one has to put up with in the name of democracy. This has grown into an outright threat to the democratic process and is of a piece with out-of-control judicial activism. I heard Jay Sekulow prattling away on WAVA about the latest skirmish in Los Angeles but it's not ONLY about our Judeo-Christian heritage and it's not ONLY about a plaque in East Podunk or a crucifix at Plainfield High. This involves just about every issue that the Left has an agenda on at the local, state AND national level.

I don't often hear of the ACLU sponsoring legislation but I do hear about them striking it down (and now we have an idea how much of this takes place out of sight of the cameras). One thing is for dead certain: these people are fanatics and like all Jihadists of whatever stripe they cannot be reasoned with, they cannot be compromised with and they cannot be appeased. There is only one thing lefties respect and it ain't turning the other cheek.

I learned from following the gun rights issue over the past twenty or so years that if you fight a strictly defensive battle you WILL lose. Maybe sooner, maybe later, but if all you do is yield ground rather than take it then inch-by-inch you end up with nothing. It was not until the NRA and their various and assorted allies started taking the initiative with such issues as the "shall-issue" permits (beginning with FL in the late eighties) and mandatory sentencing for handgun crimes (beginning with "Project Exile" in Richmond, VA in the early nineties) and not being afraid to unabashedly sell the 2nd amendement as a fundamental right for ALL americans to safeguard our freedoms (rather than as merely a right to go duck hunting) that gun control came to be seen as a surefire loser for democrat politicians.

The point is that I've heard enough conservative whining. What can be done to carry the war TO the enemy rather than continually reacting to his thrusts. Can THEY be sued? Do they get taxpayer dollars? Are there legislative loopholes that can be closed on them? Lobbying laws that they're in violation of? Surely, someone out there has drafted a blueprint for how to take them on, in the law, the legislatures and the court of public opinion.
