Squirrel heads belong in the trash (or in the dog) not on the table. The rest of the animal yes, but not the head.

If your rifle is sighted in properly there will be no head on left that squirrel.

I did not know the American Grey Squirrel and the Mink had invaded the old world. I had read somewhere that the Canada Goose was making inroads.
After reading the stories of the of the foot-and-mouth and mad cow auto de fe insanity of recent years the casual observer might be forgiven for thinking that animal husbandry had died out in merrie england
Anyone else hold a record for eating the most lamb fries?
Oh, sorry...I thought this was going to be about that judge in Oklahoma....
Skin it. Simmer it tender with a bit of salt and maple syrup, then fry 'em up. Ummm good!
A lot of protein and fiber is wasted when you skin it, better to just eat the whole thing raw, as does Rover and Tabby.
Pigs are NOT dependent on humans and are perfectly capable of fending for themselves. Just ask the feral hogs on my parents' tidal island in coastal Georgia. They are a d**ned nuisance. We keep them out of the yard with an air rifle.
That fiber results in fur balls in tabby and this old man, who hates all that hair in his mouth. Tabbies love to crunch and gobble up the head first, but the old man notes some squirrels have prions that cause human spongiform disease.
Our dogs keep a sharp eye on the squirrels who visit the bird feeder. They nabbed one this spring, my son skinned it and fried it up. I got a drumstick. Small, but delicious.
LOL! Okay, but if too much of that tiny carcas is discarded, there will be nothing left but the gravy.
A farm pig is a very different kind of animal from a wild boar, which was the original, and which does very well in the wild. Perhaps the Brits don't have feral pigs.
squirrels are gooooood eating.
A rat with wings.
What do you call a squirrel?
A rat with good PR.
THey do go fast, so you need a bunch. I once fed ~20 a couple of times over a period of a few months. They begged me to tell them where I got the "little chickens". They quizzed every store in the town and the surroundings about "little chickens", but left empty handed. At the end of the season at the last feast I told them where they came from. Did you know people can indeed turn green? Even after they did, some went back to chowing down!
Not that I have anything against farms or grocery stores, it is just that eating meat that you have prepared yourself shows that you have considered and taken responsibility for all of the necessary actions required for eating meat.
There is an intense spirituality about hunting, trapping and fishing. There is something primal and deep within us that finds intense satisfaction from these activities. Much of what we do in everyday life seems just a pale substitute.
It's interesting how people always find mystery meat to taste just like chicken.
