VP's language 'not an issue' with Bush02:30 PM CDT on Saturday, June 26, 2004
ABOARD AIR FORCE ONE - Vice President Dick Cheney's curse in an exchange on the Senate floor is not a concern to President Bush, White House spokesman Scott McClellan said Saturday.
"These things happen from time to time," McClellan said. "It's not an issue with the president." McClellan and the president were on Air Force One on the way to Turkey for a NATO summit.
Cheney used an obscenity beginning with "F" in an exchange Tuesday with Sen. Patrick Leahy, D-Vt., on the Senate floor where members had gathered for a group photo. Leahy said he was "kind of shocked" to hear such language on the Senate floor while Cheney said "I felt better after I said it."

I didn't see this short article posted yet.
Here is the real story behind Dick Cheney's use of the 'F' word to the two-faced back-stabber Patrick Leahy:Leahy was attacking Cheney's credibility over the Halliburton contracts awarded in Iraq. Cheney was the CEO of Halliburton before he accepted the VP position with Bush. Cheney resigned from the company and put his assets in a blind trust. He totally severed his interests with the company. Leahy was saying that Cheney was responsible for giving those contracts to Halliburton.

Democrats want Cheney-Halliburton probe
Republicans dismiss questions about contract

WASHINGTON (CNN) -- A Democratic senator Tuesday called for a congressional investigation into whether Vice President Dick Cheney had a role in awarding a no-bid contract in Iraq to his old company, the oil-services giant Halliburton.
"It's a legitimate question," said Sen. Patrick Leahy, the ranking Democrat on the Senate Judiciary Committee. "It raises the real question, can the American people trust their government to do the right thing? We have very real rules here."
Cheney's office has said repeatedly that the vice president has no role in government contracting and has severed all financial ties with the Texas-based Halliburton.
Vice President Dick Cheney was chief executive officer
of Halliburton before he became George Bush's running
mate.
Meek here again:
Then, after accusing Cheney of this BS above, Patrick Leahy went up to Cheney during the Senate photo session this week acting like he was Cheney's good friend and all that. Leahy has a reputation of doing this in the Senate (from what I've heard) and Cheney called him on it. I can't blame Cheney in the least. Leahy calls for an investigation of Cheney and then acts like nothing happened?? Sheesh. What a two-face backstabbing arse. I'm glad Cheney told Leahy to bug off !!
i believe JFKerry used the f-word a few months back on the campaign trail and the press did not say "boo" when he did it- nor did Bush/Cheney campaign so B/C campaign has been consistent.
What's he going to do, wash his mouth out with soap? Why don't these stupid reporters get a brain and move onto something important!
I can't decide which is funnier, Lehay being able to say this with a straight face, or the mainstream press trying so hard to give this story legs.
they already played this card with Clymer four years ago. No one is shocked by this.
Makes me love Cheney all the more.
Anyone have an email address for sissy boy, tattletale Leahy? I'd like to tell him to quit getting his panties in a bunch when a real man puts him in his place.
OK, for the life of me, I cannot figure out why someone is asking our Commander-in-Chief what he thinks about the veep dropping the "F" bomb in a private conversation. Why is this an issue? We've got much, much more important things to worry about. This story has been in the "top news" of my homepage on yahoo for 5 days straight. Geez...GET OVER IT, MEDIA! Bye the way...I believe that Cheney's reply was totally warranted. Good for him! (I just wouldn't have said it in front of 2 of Leahy's lacheys...)
I get a picture of the press playing with a worn out Mr. Potatoe Head. (a curiously accurate Lehay look alike).
Here you go:
senator_leahy@leahy.senate.gov
While you're at it, drop Cheney a line and tell him what you think.........LOL.
vicepresident@whitehouse.gov
Well, this is an "issue" with me.
A good one I'd like to see repeated over and over. :-)
Thanks!
Among other things, I would like to tell VP Cheney that his wife is a very lucky woman...:)
It's their anniversary soon. I don't know which day, but it's in the upcoming week, I think!
Well, after you've called someone a "clymer", all else pales in comparison.
Exactly. Even using the F word in print......LOL.
Ask yourself - if the tables were reversed, what would the dems do? They would turn it around, go on the offensive and every time they were asked about this "F" word they would attack thir opponent. So why isn't our side doing this? Why isn't our side thanking the questioner for raising the question, and then ignoring the "f" world question and then attacking Leahy and the dems. Attack, attack, attack. And then attack some more.
Leahy acted like the Eddie Haskell p@ssy he is - slinking around later to suck up to Cheney and Cheney verbally decked him.
Men are running this country again and I for one thank God for it.
Yes, that is true. One point to keep in mind, however. When Jean Keri did it, it was to an MTV reporter. It was AIMED at potential young voters, TROLLING for votes. That was it's sole purpose.
Cheney did it NOT in front of reporters (that I know of) and it was for the reasons I list in my post #2.
Just my 2 cents. Thanks. :^)
