One of Paul Bremer's security guards, stands in front of a monument built at site where a mass grave of Saddam Hussein's regime victims was discovered last year at the compound of the University for Humanities, Science and Theological Studies in Hillah, Iraq 100 Kms south of Baghdad, visited by Bremer Sunday June 27, 2004. What was the point indeed.
I think you answered it yourself.
I agree. Must've been some AP or CNN staff photographer.
Blech!!
I know your question about what was the point was rhetorical.
Ah, I just looked at the properties. U.S. News photo.
What media bias?
Is this the photographer's name? Hmmm
Cute soldier.
Ping.
Location: in Hillah, Iraq 100 Kms south of Baghdad
Hillah is the site of the ancient city of Babylon. Saeed Khan appears to be into symbols.
The photo is linked from U.S. News, but it appears to be a "pool" photo by Saeed Khan, working for AP.
I can't blame them for using Muslim locals in Iraq, because they can go places Westerners can't go without getting themselves kidnapped and beheaded. But they really do have a responsibility to keep on top of the results and weed some of this anti-American cr*p out. At least they would have such a responsibility if they weren't so very delighted anytime they get something that puts America in a bad light.
I like it. We should reprint it in the millions and airdrop it in the "Indian country" of Afghanistan/Pakistan and anywhere else the superstitious barbarians hang out, imagining they are a match for the American army.
Personally - I would LOVE a picture like this while I was active duty - for MYSELF! not to used for propaganda purposes against me.
But then, I am a Marine and that is how we see ourselves.
Another name for the Marine Corps is DEVIL DOGS!
I forwarded this on to the MRC and David Horowitz.
That's what I was thinking too. LOL!
Propaganda or not, that is a bad ass picture. I like it. When did it become popular to be weak?
marine ping
It´s not a soldier. It´s a sony... errr it´s a guy of Bremers security guards, as the "article" says. They´ve not sworn to defend the constitution and the Republic, they´re just paid for their work (which is not called "service").
