The Canadian election is today. If the most recent polls are correct, the Conservative Party of Canada may win more seats in Canada's House of Commons, setting the stage for a Conservative minority government. A new day may be dawning in Canada. But the election is going to be close.
Please use this thread for any early election articles that pop-up over the course of the day, predictions and news analysis, and, of course, the actual results as they come in.
Also, please post links to Canadian elections result sites here.
Canada tilts way to the Left. Combined Leftist vote total is 75% - here in the States the Left is lucky to break 50% in a national election. Its all over but the shouting.
As of this momemt, 10:15 pm EST, it looks like the Bloc is wiping out the Liberals in Quebec, BUT the Liberals are doing well in Ontario. It could be that as returns come in, the Conservatives will do better in Ontario. It is still very possible that the Liberals will fall short of an outright majority and even that the Liberals + the NDP will fall short of a majority.
Or is that "Trudeau-phobia?"
everything now depand on the west. Forget Ontario, they been brainwashed to such a level that cannot be cure.
The Liberal is against proportional representation, wonder why eh.
I am totally unimpressed with out northern neighbors.
The Liberals can form a coalition with the NDP to get their legislation passed.
A close race in polls which turn into an easy win for liberals-- that could easily fit us. Kerry has the first part, at least.

Oh, BTW, CBC's coverage is now live on C-Span 1.
i want to cry.
God I can hear the gloating tomorrow! Well gents we have a lot of work to do to make sure the Dem dragon stays slain!
I've been watching it in utter awe at how stupid people there are. No offense to the intelligent, non-liberal Canadians, but the ship of state is sinking fast!
First past the post districts. The Bloc is concentrated in Francophone districts of Quebec while the NDP has its votes scattered across the country.
All their seats are in Quebec.
The bloc only operates in Quebec. Voting percentages are nationwide. Imagine how national vote tallies would look for a Bloc Carolina Sud might look.
The Bloc only runs in Quebec. Quebec has 25% of the population. That's a majority there.
The Bloc only runs in Quebec. They are getting zero votes outside of Quebec, but are winning a lot of districts within Quebec. Districts in Canada are called Ridings.
