Just heard on FNC that Al Jazeera is reporting that Maupin was killed.
If true, I am one unhappy camper.
He was dead minutes after they made the video.
I just read it on another thread. I'm very unhappy, too.
Didn't they say a Middle East television station is showing tape????
Al Jazerra is airing the video they said.
The barbarians,both here and abroad,will blame Bush and the press will go along with it.

I think they are saying that Al Jazeera HAS the video, but has not shown it. Al-J seems to have realized that all these executions of Westerners are not endearing their beloved "militants" to the west.
From what I am reading it does appear that Maupin has been killed. The Army has seen a video of a blindfolded man who "looks like him" being shot in the head in a darkened room. No confirmation, but...doesn't look good.

The terrorists desperately want to influence the American election. They knew killing Maupin on Independence Day in Iraq would be shrewd. The American media has made endangered every soldier's life in Iraq by covering this in the most pessimistic, morale sapping way possible.

Why is Al Jazeera still on the air ?
I think they made a mistake, murdering a Marine. I don't think the Marines will take kindly to that.
I think that could be chalked up on the short list of "Very Bad Ideas". Add it to the beheading of that Korean fellow, which will not endear them to the ROK Special Forces soldiers coming in-country soon, and it seems the terrorists are setting a trend for pissing off all the wrong people.
BAGHDAD, Iraq (CNN) -- The Arabic-language television network Al-Jazeera reported Monday that it had received a statement and a videotape from a group of militants who claimed to have killed U.S. Army Pfc. Matt Maupin.
Maupin was captured April 9 when his convoy was ambushed outside Baghdad. President Bush met with Maupin's family June 21.
Two senior Pentagon officials told CNN there was no way to tell the identity of the victim apparently seen on the videotape.

I think the tactics used by these animals are very easy to understand. They will continue to bomb, capture and behead Americans, Westerners, foreigners, etc. until people get sick of seeing it and hearing about it. This will cause those same people to vent there disgust on Bush, Blair et al thus removing these leaders (particularly Bush) from office, i.e. out of power, shamed and defeated. The animals win. After all, it worked in Spain. They believe this will work because Arab and Western media outlets will eagerly air the reports and videos of the captured and the killings.
It remains to be seen if this tactic will really work. So far, I don't know. We'll know by November, though.
That's the $64k dollar question. They're worse than CNN ever thought about being and being such Jihads-on-the-spot it seems they're not just breaking the news but *making* the news. Does it surprise anyone they have this tape to add to their ever growing collection of beheadings?
