On a somewhat related note, I read the following in today's NY Post on Page Six and thought it interesting:
REAGAN FAN
THE most surprising thing Bijou Phillips said the other night at the birthday dinner for nightlife impresario John Flanagan was how much she admired Ronald Reagan. Bijou, 24, explained to PAGE SIX that her late father, John Phillips of the Mamas and Papas ['60's musical group], had reverted to the conservatism of his youth as he got older and had to pay what seemed like criminally high taxes.[....]

The last year my Dad was active in his business, he kept $11,000 after taxes were done with him, and as he put it, "Why should I boss 630 men for less than what I pay them?"
