Lafave is a reading instructor at a junior high school. According to the cousin, Lafave pursued it partly because "it was illegal".
Two thoughts - junior high schools should not need reading instructors and her stated reason sounds vaguely like, "I did it because I could."

". . .her stated reason sounds vaguely like, "I did it because I could." And as well all know from the book of X42 - this kind of behavior is simply innocent fun! Why. . . it's no worse than lying under oath before a Federal Judge!
What's happened to our society when a purty gal and a horny 14 year old can't enjoy "social intercourse"?? For all we know, she was trying to teach him to read through the use of symbols and examples!
