I just can't imagine that. MN (and I believe IA) doesn't allow the public to shoot off their own fireworks, so every June there are fireworks businesses set up along the borders to sell the latest fun stuff. I and a group of friends get together for BBQ, beer, and we pool our money together every year for a big collection of fireworks and have a real blowout for the kids (big ones as well as little ones).

I have fond memories of buying and setting off fireworks as a kid in Modesto.

Funny thing about THIS county; they DO allow two different fireworks displays during the year. One is in October, to celebrate the anniversary of Santa Cruz, and the other is in August, to raise money for the schools. So, it DOESN'T have anything to do with fireworks per se, it's the FOURTH OF JULY they don't want us celebrating. GRRRRR.
