I would like to posit that one thing that freepers need to consider, and I could be wrong, in the weakness of Kerry in the midwest is due to something only midwesterners understand.
He's an east coast liberal. And he treats the midwest like most easterners do...flyover country is redneck land to them. I think Bush's midwestern type values will put him over the top in OH, PA, and MI. Regionalism is something I predict Rove will eventually take advantage of later in the campaign...
I wish Rove would start taking advantage of that now.

You make a good point. An east coast liberal would require a surplus of charm and personal appeal to overcome a sort of built in suspicion of his agenda. With his own base, Kerry doesn't even have the charm and appeal of Dean so the going will be tougher.

I seriously doubt WV goes to Kerry. Bush won by 6 points. It's a patriotic states that likes incumbants. The economy is starting to improve there.
If Bush wins by 10%, he'll take Michigan easy. He'd probably take California.
If he lost OH or PA he'd have to pick up 11 EV or so, so just picking up NM wouldn't be enough.
That Kerry has been polling as well as he has in WI, IA and MN has been surprising to me.
In that scenario, Bush picked up WI for 10 EV.

Good question. My first thought is if they are French terrorist Kerry can just say see nobody like us.
Seriously, hard to believe that you can blame Bush for attacks on US interests in other countries. An attack before the election in the US would be a much tougher thing to predict the political fallout from. And I think the magnitude of the attack would greatly affect the political fallout in either situation.
But back to your question, I think security moms would be back on the Bush side again if an attack on US interests in Athens happened. The only thing I can think that might muddy this would be an attack on our girl gymnasts and the ensuing how could you not protect those children outcry even though it is outside Bush's jurisdiction.
