Some motorists outraged over getting the tickets storm into the police station to dispute the violations, not knowing the photos come accompanied by videotape.

Q? #1: Please let me know how I might cross-examine the red-light cams.... or even the video recorder... should I choose to refute the charges brought by these mechanical accusers??

Q? #2: Please let me know why the citizens of California seem to lead the way in ceding our individual freedoms and constitutional rights??

The use of these automated traffic-ticket factories [also spelled "municipal cash registers"] have been found unconstitutional in several states on the grounds that the accused is unable to confront or cross-examine the accuser -- as no officer or constable was present at the time of the alleged offense.

Regards...

We've got red-light cameras in Charlotte (NC), and now they've put up speed trap cameras. I understand from the radio the tickets don't go through the courts. Some private company determines your guilt, but it has the authority of a judge's decree. They're talking about making it a crime to use those covers over your license to prevent photos. I had assumed those didn't really work.
