The funny thing about it is that he claims to be an independent but one of the registrations is as a Democrat. Honestly, his voter registration doesn't matter to me at all...I would expect him to be and vote Democrat but lying about it is quite fishy.

But then there is the point of two registrations, which allows for potential fraud. Now that is a big deal to me.

So, what? I had two for a while when I moved from Texas to Alaska. And then again when I moved from Alaska back to Texas.

So how did you like it up here in big old Alaska? By the way, your tagline is the very essence of communism isn't it? It scares me half to death that she even has a chance to make it to the White House again.

How did I like Alaska? It's the best place in the world. I'd still be there if I had any family there. For me, it's about as close to paradise as I'll ever get on this planet. I could go on and on. Get my drift? :>)

"No"? What are you arguing with? What’s the inane condescension about? I don’t see anything wrong with his post.

Thanks for the post/info and welcome to FreeRepublic.com, Michael F Moore!

So, what? I had two for a while when I moved from Texas to Alaska. And then again when I moved from Alaska back to Texas.

Did you vote in both states for the same election ? Of course not.

But I would certainly not put it past Mikey to do exactly such a thing. I suspect he has.

The next thing would be if we could find out that he has done so in the past.

I probably have two. When I moved to MD I told them I used to vote in NM, and MD is supposed to tell NM to take me off the rolls. If they don't or someone screwed up along the way, then I have two registrations. I hope it doesn't come back to hurt me.

Well, I just looked and he registered to vote in N.Y. on: Registration Date: 4/28/2003

So maybe not. Don't know if NY has had any elections since then.

I am confused.

The Smoking Gun article

http://www.thesmokinggun.com/archive/0628041moore1.html

says MFM registered in 1992, but this says 4/28/2003.

When did he register in Michigan?

If Michigan is after 4/28/2003 or 4/28/2003 is wrong by way of being later than actual, then the problem might be between the states of Michigan and New York, and MFM can't be held responsible for a screw-up between states (one would think).

Gotta say, though, I don't think information like this SHOULD be publicly available. Why is it public business what my voter registration and party affiliation is?

Registered as a member of a given party is not inconsistent with being an independent voter.

Say there's an election for Senator in your state. One party has an uncontested incumbent. The other has two candidates running in the primary. You prefer Candidate A of the 2nd party to either Candidate B of the 2nd party or the incumbent of the 1st party. So you vote in the primary for Candidate A. This causes you to be registered as a member of the 2nd party as far as the State knows.

But Candidate A loses. You prefer the incumbent of the 1st party to Candidate B of the 2nd party, so in the General election you vote for the incumbent. This is an independent voting pattern, so it's fair to describe yourself as an independent. But according to the State, you are a member of one party or another. This has happened to me more than once in Illinois, where there's not all that much difference between the Democrats and the Republicans.

So while Mr. Moore may well be lying, there's no proof in what we're seeing here.

Two voter registrations is no big deal, either. I've had two voter registrations a couple of times in my life, when I was in school and when I moved. As long as you don't vote in the same election twice, it's quite legal.

He could only have gotten more attention by registering as Osama Bin Laden.

Mr. Moore, I hope you don't take all the things we say about "it" Michael Moore, personally.

There are lots of left-wingers who claim to be independant and the reason they do this is that they are ashamed to be associated with the jackass party. They think claiming to be independent would take the odor away
