'I Knew I was Coming Home Some Day, They Were Not Going to Keep This Boy' Former Hostage, Thomas Hamill, Recalls His 23 Days in Captivity
BRANDON, Miss., July 2 /PRNewswire/ -- True Exposures Publishing, Inc., of Brandon, Mississippi, in collaboration with Stoeger Publishing, has announced today they have reached an agreement with Thomas Hamill to tell his story of faith, survival and ultimate escape after enduring 23 days of being held captive by Iraqi insurgents. The book, published by Stoeger Publishing, will be co-authored by award-winning writer and photographer, Paul T. Brown. Release date is scheduled for October 15, 2004.
Hamill, from Macon, Mississippi, was a truck convoy commander when his group was ambushed on April 9. The 44-year-old Hamill was wounded, taken prisoner while four of his associates were killed, and two are still missing. Hamill's survival and escape were made possible by his unrelenting faith. According to Hamill, prayer was the key to his survival.
"I have had the pleasure, over the past month, of getting to know Tommy and his wife Kellie," Co-author Paul Brown stated. "I am excited about helping with what will prove to be a moving account of the danger he faced, the faith he and his wife displayed, and the involvement of a small community."
Ms Hero ping.
Good! He's a living miracle. He deserves all the money he can get off that book.
Looking forward to another book purchase.
bttt
I will definitley buy this book and pass on My lies by Clintoon.
Yes, amen. He would have been killed had he not escaped. Of course, we know who arranged that escape. :-) It's very sad that the others have been so brutally murdered. Prayers go out to their loved ones.
You are a very astute reader I can tell.
You got that right, and any movie offers that might come his way, too!
I will definitely buy Thomas Hamill's book. Although I did not know Thomas, my father's side all live in Macon and its "suburb" of Brooksville, MS.
When they had the prayer vigil for Thomas on Fox News, I saw two of my cousins in attendance. I can't tell you how strong of faith those folks are and the salt of the earth from which they come. My dad is buried there and I still remember as a kid how he'd just about bend down and kiss the ground every time we visited there from our home town of Chicago where our parents raised us.
The sad thing is that the town where Tommy lives and its "suburb" are rife with corruption. (I know most towns, cities and corresponding politics have their share), but this place is in real trouble. My cousin ran for sheriff to try to get rid of the parasite drug people who have devastated the African American community there. He's a real Buford Pusser type. I was almost glad he lost because I worried for him. Many of the African Americans voted for him because they were really tired of their kids getting into serious trouble.
Unfortunately, the problem is bigger than a few country folk like my family and people like Tommy Hamill's family can manage. Maybe Tommy's celebrity can shed a spotlight on the problem of the blighted community and they can get some federal help down there in Noxubee County!!!
Excellent post.
Thanks for your insightful , insight.
Release date October 15, 2004.
Several copies for Christmas gifts.
"I only wish the others were but that is way above my pay grade but not above my pray grade."
Very well put. My sentiments exactly.
It's nice to see a MS boy writing this book.
He will understand Hamill better than someone
from another part of the country could ever
hope to...
GMTA. As soon as I saw the headline I thought, great Christmas gift idea. :) I'm convinced this man is alive today because of his rock solid faith and the faith of the community. "Faith honors God; God honors faith."
You expressed my sentiments beautifully.
I agree with you entirely.
God surely blessed this man,
and for GOOD reason.
Also just before the presidential election.
Good point.
Very good point.
Good point. I didn't even think about a movie at the time. I believe it would make a great movie.
