(Roswell - AP) -- Roswell 2004 -- otherwise known as the UFO festival got under way Thursday.
Last year, about 9,300 people went through the Roswell UFO museum during the festival.
The festival will offer a parade, musical acts, more than 85 vendors. Saturday night will feature a concert with Willie Nelson and Merle Haggard at the Eastern New Mexico State Fair Grounds.
The festival runs through Sunday. Much of the events will occur on Main Street. One of the big draws is the citys International UFO Museum, which also is located on Main Street.
I passed through Roswell, and other points of interest, when I passed through there last year- driving from the west coast to the east. It was an absolutely charming little town- and it was bigger than I was expecting. Quiet, clean, peaceful and civilised. people tuck their shirttails in, remove their hats when entering a restaurant, and say things like 'please' and 'thank you'. I stayed for a couple of days. I went to the Alien Museum too. It was surprisingly extensive and even-handed in its approach to the alleged events of July, 1947.
I was actually tempted to stay there. In Roswell- not at the museum. :-)
But welcome, to FR, anyway, red flanker.
Go ahead, tell me the resemblance is accidental!
A possible UFO ping!
