The French helped us in our war of independence. 85% of all the gun powder used in that war was given to us by France, and their navy helped us defend our borders against King George's navy. Ben Franklin, and Thomas Jefferson, where both highly influenced in their thinking by the French. You may say the US constitution was inspired by the French intellectual thinkings of liberty. The Statue of liberty was a gift to us from France. Stop your hate for Chirac, and the entire country of France. The enemies are not the French and their brie, its the Moslems, and their sharei'a!

That debt was paid, 1944-1945.

Since then they've been running up a big debt on the other side of the ledger.

Why are we still issuing Visas to Frogs?

For the most part, we don't. French citizens (along with a fairly large list of other "friendly" nations, including the entire EU) do not need visas to enter the US for "tourist" travel. Business travel and immigration still require visas.

Keep your eyes on the ball. The enemies are the jihadists. They want to kill us all, Christians, Jews, Hindus, French, Americans, Italians.....! Do not waste too much energy hating our friends the French, spend the same energy instead being aware of Islamic terrorists movements around the world.

Thanks, Jim. That was a wonderful excerpt you have treated us to......so many interesting details.

I'm really looking forward to your new book....'A Grave Breach'. As I recall all your books have 'legal terms' as titles.

Can you share the origin of the title?

Thanks, Julie. You're right, the titles are legal terms and part of the plot to one degeree or another. In some ways, "A Grave Breach" is the most straightforward use in that it's a term in the Geneva Conventions - a classification of things prohibited. And the background for this third novel is the Bosnian War Crimes trials. But, as always, while that's the thread that runs through it, the story and other subplots deal with people and events separate but related. And other "grave breaches" occur in other ways too.

I refuse to give the French any kudos for their action in the American Revolution. They acted purely in self interest and on our dime. Their participation was a continuation of their ongoing hostilities and rivalry with Britan. Thomas Nelson, signer of the Delcaration of Independence from Virginia, signed a personal note for the $2 million to provision the French Fleet. He was never repaid.

I agree. Besides, whatever the French used to be over 200 years ago, they have been nothing but useless for at least the past 80 years or so.

My tagline until the election: A vote for Kerry-Edwards is a vote for Osama bin Laden, Saddam Hussein, Jacques Chirac, the UN, and Hollyweirdos like Michael Moore. A vote not cast, or a vote cast for a minority party, is a vote for Kerry-Edwards.
