Thanks for a history lesson...and the ping...I had no idea there were so many fighting with the Germans.
Read the book "Forgotten Soldier" by Guy Sajer. He was a Frenchman that joined the German Army and ended up in the SS. He survived the war (apparently by hiding in the nearest hole while everyone else fought) and returned to France.
