Bush: Edwards Is No Cheney
NewsMax ^

Posted on 07/07/2004 4:10:29 PM PDT by notforhire

President Bush doesn't seem worried about the media-adored freshman Sen. John Edwards being Sen. John Kerry's running mate. Today he rushed over to the inexperienced radical's home state and fired away.

"When they go to the polls to vote for president, they'll understand the senator from Massachusetts doesn't share their values," Bush noted to reporters in Raleigh, N.C. "I'm going to carry the South because the people understand that they share - we share - values."

He reminded the journalists that the zillionaire former trial lawyer Edwards and other Senate Democrats were "obstructing the work of the federal judiciary by refusing to fill judgeships around the country, resulting in backlogs of unresolved cases that languish for years in the federal courts," the Associated Press reported.

Bush said he told three of his judicial nominees in North Carolina, "You're being hung out by a handful of United States senators."

So typical: A reporter said Edwards was being described as "charming, engaging, a nimble campaigner, a populist and even sexy," and then asked, "How does he stack up against Dick Cheney?"

Bush shot back: "Dick Cheney can be president. Next?"

What an empty headed reporter that was to mention sex in a question to the President. Sex does not make a President. I think we all found that out with slick willie when he used the White House as his sexual playground instead of concentrating on what was happening in the world.

President Bush responded in a dignified manner. Cheney COULD be President AND...Cheney knows how to tell of an obnoxious old windbag when he needs to as well.

I can't wait for the debates. Edwards is very good when he's fleecing the insurance company of an obstetrician in the courtroom. This is a different ballgame entirely, and no one is quicker on their feet in this situation than Dick Cheney. Edwards is in way over his head.

Judging by Edwards' horrible post-9/11 performance on Charlie Rose I am quite inclined to agree with you, though I'm sure he will be far more prepared come October. If the debate moderators throw any curveballs though, Edwards will whiff 'em and Cheney will knock 'em out of the park. Even better would be a format that allows them to question each other.

Being an experienced trial lawyer maybe Edwards will try to goad Cheney into using the F-bomb in the debate. It would be much more dignified if Cheney would just reach over and smack him is the mouth and wipe that insipid smile off his face...

I too cannot wait for the debates. The John-Johns are both airheads and will be toast after the debates.

The dem talking point on Edwards has been all over today: Edwards has more experience than Bush did when he ran in 2000. Excuse me? Two terms as a successful and popular governor, with a landslide re-election vs. one term as Senator with no hope of re-election.

I really don't see much enthusiasm for Kerry/Edwards even by the hard core dems and liberals. Yes, they are saying the words; saying the talking points. But listen close to the tone and how they are saying it. Not very believable.

Kerry is such a horrible speaker. Even though I didn't like Gore, at least he could be energetic at times. Today, Kerry said this team is going to set a new beacon of Truth in America. What the heck is that?
