July 8, 2004 -- DAYTON, Ohio Republicans hurled the word "liberal" like an epithet at the John-John Democratic ticket yesterday when John Edwards hit the road for the first time as John Kerry's vice-presidential running mate. At first that might seem odd after all, last winter Republicans blasted Kerry as a liberal but ditched that strategy, deciding they scored better by painting the man from Massachusetts as a flip-flopper who straddles every issue. So why go back to liberal at this late date?

The Democratic ticket ARE liberals. To win this election, it must be about values, not competence. The Democrats are outside the American mainstream on gay marriage, on late term abortion, and on abstinence education. Here's a chance for the GOP to turn the table on them. Highlight how extreme they are to swing voters. Once the public gets the picture, Kerry and Edwards won't stand a chance come November.
L for liberal and loser....
Yeah, right. Kerry probably sent Moore a jumbo bucket of KFC with a bow around it when F911 debuted.
And oh yes, make the Democrats' embrace of judicial activism the hot button issue. Show the country how they're blocking the nomination of common sense candidates to the federal bench and how they use the courts to impose their views over the wishes of the American people. Force the liberals to explain why they fear the democratic process.
Oops, were we not supposed to be using the word 'liberal' this whole time? Because I didn't get the memo. I've been calling people that with great disdain for some time now.
Haven't you noticed, the liberals have been taking back their liberal label these last couple of years. Previously people were shying away from that label, but recently I have been hearing many people readily claim they were liberals.
It makes me wonder if the GOP campaign has missed this also. When they are saying Edwards is a liberal they mean it as a bad thing but there are many people out there who think this is a good thing.
The only people that think being a liberal is a good thing are liberals. For the rest of the country being "moderate" or "conservative" is the preferred label. I think the RNC should mention that Kerry-Edwards are the #1 and #4 liberals in the Senate at every occasion.
Yes. To conservatives liberal is a bad word, but conservatives would never vote Dem anyway. Moderates are the ones who the campaigns target and the moderates will either have to choose a liberal or a conservative. So labeling a liberal a liberal is a useless exercise because the moderates are going to be thinking "yeah so what else is new, he is a Dem isn't he".
How many meetings of the Intelligence committe did edwards actually attend. Lott said very few...
Your liberals have described our insurgents as Minutemen. They're helping us in a way we could not do on our own and we have to give them credit for undermining the enemy. They know American weaknesses better than we ever could. The big mystery is why you Americans would help them finish our job for us - which we welcome.
If the jack boot fits comrade wear it.
and liar.
Left wing, lawyer, loser
The Bush-Cheney Campaign should pick a couple of themes (i.e. taxes and terrorism) and hammer them day after day. The Democrats have milked "party of the rich" for decades. It's time the Republicans remember and use the two themes which have always worked for them in characterizing Democrats: "Tax and Spend" and "Weak on Defense."
The judicial nominations are an important instance and a real issue in that the Demonrats are the ones claiming the Republicans are nominating 'extremists', but whose judges are they that are attempting to take God out of everything(the pledge, etc.), and forcing homosexual marriage. They are the extremist judges whom are the face of the Demonrat party.
The CPUSA coined the term Progressive in the 1930's knowing that the word Communist would get them nowhere in an election in the USA.
So when you hear liberal, ignore it and think progressive and then imagine this flying from the top of the US Capitol Dome:
