My grandson was so proud to shoot his first rattlesnake this year. He's 8 and he got it with a .22 and took the rattles off and terrorized us girls.

they'd arrest someone who shot rattlers in NY. I would guess that if you could stand up to the licenses/permits scrutiny, they would get you for killing a protected species. :-/
I don't have to worry about getting in trouble usually because I just like to watch them and give them a wide berth when I run across one(unfortunately it's been years, they are so cool).
