NEW YORK - In a bizarre twist of campaign history, John Kerry made the claim on Larry King Live that he had been "too busy" to stay up to date on National Security Briefings that had been offered him by the Bush Administration.
The stunning admission came last night on CNN.
KING: News of the day, Tom Ridge warned today about al Qaeda plans of a large-scale attack on the United States...What's your reaction?
KERRY: Well, I haven't been briefed yet, Larry. They have offered to brief me. I just haven't had time.
It should be pointed out that immediately following the interview with Larry King, Kerry headed straight to an evening concert fund raiser...

This is not good for Kerry
Ping!!!
This man makes my blood boil. He would rather hob nob with Larry King and the rest of the Hollywood morons than be bothered about our national security.
Carolyn
I see a great Bush/Cheney ad in our future.
I guess it's better to party and get some head (ala Bubba/Lewinsky) vice care a whit about National Security. It's more FUN to bash BUSH than be an ADULT LEADER and actually be RESPONSIBLE.
This shows exactly where his priorities lie.
Sheesh. Too busy for a national security briefing?! Too busy??!!
Why am I not surprised. Hell, he misses 83% of his votes in the Senate too.
I expect to hear it on all the radio talk shows.
They usually take their cue from Drudge.
Doesn't this remind you an awful lot of Clinton? Busy, busy, busy with Hollywood friends but just didn't have the time to meet with his CIA Director.
This person want be President of your great country. No, I want America to go with George Bush, America strong is good. That person do not care for America
bttt
Yes it does and hopefully it will remind the American voters of the same.
WE CANNOT afford to have this man in office. I have never felt so strongly about a presidential race as I do this one. John Kerry is downright scary!!
You are a smart Pole.
Too busy for terror briefing to be president and too busy to vote at his current job as Senator.
"I've been too busy for briefings."
Too bad Bush wont be able to use that in his commercials without consent by CNN...
Not only does it speak for political stupidity, but also to the "arrogance" thing. Sheesh. I didn't see it--could it be used as a sound bite in a campaign ad?
Quote: "Too bad Bush wont be able to use that in his commercials without consent by CNN..."
Good Point. You know CNN would never allow it.
America strong is good. That person do not like America. Grom want Gorge Bush your great president.
g
You have more insight than most Americans!
p.s Thanks!!!
You are good America friend and good. America is free EU is other communist komunizm in us. I like your great president America need to be strong.
I'm sure Brit Hume will cover it later today.
I think it's true that they can't use an actual voice clip from CNN without permission, but I think they could quote from the interview, and just cite where the interview took place. IIRC.
Insert foot in mouth.
"Quote: "Too bad Bush wont be able to use that in his commercials without consent by CNN..."
Good Point. You know CNN would never allow it."
Yes they will. When Bush starts talking about how after he wins on November 3 he is going to screw to the wall everyone that stabbed him including CNN, the dialogue will change from "No this is propoerty of CNN" to "Sure Mr. Rove, where do you want the tape sent?"
May be wishful thinking.
Most likely, it won't matter, unless the Washington Post; NYT's et al,feature the truth of these Libs; and of course, they are 'it'; so that won't happen.
Think I will copy these picts and keep them in my car; place/leave them in appropriate places. . .
A picture is worth a thousand words and two, even better.
What with squeezing Edwards' butt and doing his chores to earn his allowance from Theresa, there's just no time for things like voting in the Senate and being briefed on national security.
John Kerry is only displaying his version of Henry David Thoreau at Walden Pond. And of course, in that magical mirror of history, his running mate John Edwards reprises the silver oratory of William Jennings Bryan.
Rush mentioned it yesterday.
I recall him also saying that one of the very, very, first things he would do as Pres, would be to authorize embryonic stem cell research. He even managed to say it with passion.
Odd thoughts for a guy who believes life begins at conception.
Oh, I know he can quote freely, I just think it will be more effective to use the actual video...visualizing it is more damning than just a quote.
Given all the criticisims re our 'security prepraredness', have wondered how it is, that Kerry's role on National Security has never come in to play.

"Sorry, too busy for national security matters right now. Catch ya later, dude."
It should be played in a Bush/Cheney commerical. Terrorism goes to the heart of this election ... and Kerry is hanging out trading sexual innuendos with Whoopi Goldberg!
Nah, Johnnie Boy has been too busy wearing spandex and riding his "man of the people" custom bike.
I wonder if the people of Taxechucetts feel like they are being well represented in the Senate?
America, do you remember? DON'T DO IT AGAIN!
Why is it not good?
besides this lil snipet from CNN... I don't see this getting any legs with the mainstream media...
Well, I have two senators who actually show up and vote, and I'm not well represented in the Senate...
Heck, I wish my Senators WOULDN'T show up ;0)
It's not like he was on vacation or out of the country...
:0)
Well they could not use the footage w/o consent; but surely they can use his picture and his words; that was for public consumption.
Wish someone would put just a 'short' one out there, compiling the inanities of Kerryspeak; which speak to the danger of a Kerry presidency. . .
All we need is one campaign commercial.... I'm Geroge W. Bush and I approved this messge.
John Q. Public doesn't read newspapers. What matters is what hits talk radio, music stations, and most importantly, the late night TV shows.
Well done!
That picture does wonders to help boost his peacenik image.
