OK- Back to EOM

Let's take him at his word for the moment. He says that we have 72 hours left before the nukes are detonated ( I know- sounds like an old James Bond movie)....

Would that work out to this Tuesday? (guess all their comments about Fridays and 15's were wrong, if so.)

Now- we KNOW DC and NYC are two of the targets. Philly/Harrisburg probably as well, but not definite

Don't we still have time to:

Blockade both NYC and DC from incoming ships
Restrict air space over both cities
screen ALL vehicles entering the cities

Or would AQ then just wait until we ran out of money to maintain this level of security- and detonate them then?

Another article about postponing the elections.

U.S. Mulling How to Delay Nov. Vote in Case of Attack

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - U.S. counterterrorism officials are looking at an emergency proposal on the legal steps needed to postpone the November presidential election in case of an attack by al Qaeda, Newsweek reported on Sunday.

Homeland Security Secretary Tom Ridge warned last week that Osama bin Laden's al Qaeda network may attack within the United States to try to disrupt the election.

The magazine cited unnamed sources who told it that the Department of Homeland Security asked the Justice Department last week to review what legal steps would be needed to delay the election if an attack occurred on the day before or the day of the election.

The department was asked to review a letter to Ridge from DeForest Soaries, who is the chairman of the new U.S. Election Assistance Commission, the magazine said.

The commission was created in 2002 to provide funds to the states to the replace punch card voting systems and provide other assistance in conducting federal elections.

In his letter, Soaries pointed out that while New York's Board of Elections suspended primary elections in New York on the day of the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks, "the federal government has no agency that has the statutory authority to cancel and reschedule a federal election."

Soaries wants Ridge to ask Congress to pass legislation giving the government such power, Newsweek reported in its latest issue that hits the newsstands on Monday.

Homeland Security Department spokesman Brian Rochrkasse told the magazine the agency is reviewing the matter "to determine what steps need to be taken to secure the election."

I really believe the bad guys are toying with us. They hint at dates, places, and time lines only to practice what they are good at.....terror. They are patient. The "great hittings" will come (and I think they will) at a time and place of their choosing.......rather like the Rapture.

Mercy, I didn't mean to equate the two.

The point is.....we don't know where, when, or how. Only that it will be. Sooner.....or later.

We just need to keep collecting our "dots". At some point we may be able to draw the pencil line to connect them into a full picture. And hopefully, send the bad guys to their virgins.

The War of Terror will last for our lifetime, and probably longer. The Threat Matrix thread will go on ad infinitum.

Unfortunately, my "Leave it to Beaver" childhood exists no longer.

I'm like Granny today......a bit depressed. I pray tomorrow will be a better day.

"Now- we KNOW DC and NYC are two of the targets."

I don't think it's safe to make those assumptions. We know that AQ would like for those cities to be targets, and have targeted at least NYC in the past.

IMHO, they will go with whatever target city is the closest to the place they brought the weapon either into the country or wherever it can be activated. I think we're speaking of the so called missing suitcase nukes from the "cold war." Alledgedly prepositioned by Sov agents for use in the opening fusillades of WWIII. Later disavowed by the Russian gov't at the end of the era of the USSR and KGB activities. If AQ has paid cash for some of these, I don't think they will risk detection by moving them far. Therefore, unless these are already prepositioned near NYC or the District of Columbia, they dare not risk detection in trying to move it closer. Yes it could be NYC or DC, but it could just as easily be Iowa City or Seattle or Brownsville Texas. Does this make sense?

One final point: Given the numbers of sophisticated detectors and the density of "boots on the ground" and engaged in the hunt, I doubt that any WMD of any sort will be activated or armed until it is going to be triggered to forestall any lucky or skilled intervention. The next strike has to be both devastating and skilled in the execution for the image of Jihad to be a credible threat.
