The new conspiracy: Rush and Rupert's Fox
U.S. News- Washington Whispers ^ | 07/19/04 | Paul Bedard

Posted on 07/11/2004 6:34:54 AM PDT by Pokey78

Hillary Rodham Clinton is finally getting some backup on her vast-right-wing-media charge. But instead of her scattershot blast at the press, the new offensive targets two media giants: Rush Limbaugh and Rupert Murdoch 's Fox News Channel. In Rush's case, he's under fire for something he didn't do. See, he's the only political commentator on Armed Forces Radio, and Democrats want the organization partly funded with tax dollars to hire a lefty pundit--or drop him. Murdoch, meanwhile, has committed two sins in liberals' eyes: He owns too much media and has created a "Fox effect" that supposedly forces other networks to bend conservative or lose market share. This week, MoveOn.org and the Clinton-friendly Center for American Progress unleash their attack in a Michael Moore -style documentary called Outfoxed: Rupert Murdoch's War on Journalism. Its point: Fox is too cozy with the GOP, and Murdoch forces his righty bias on his staff. Conservative media watchdog Brent Bozell laughed at it all. "It's more evidence that the loopy left has taken over the liberal left."

We need to be prepared to do some Freeping this week to counter attack what MoveOn is doing.

I am furious that they are trying to attack Fox. They are just jealous that Fox has outdone them as far as viewership. It drives them crazy they can no longer control every angle of the news that gets fed to the American people. Arrggggg.

Forgive me, I am cranky this morning and need another cup of coffee.

""Fox effect" that supposedly forces other networks to bend conservative or lose market share."

In other words, Fox gives viewers an option to avoid watching rabidly leftist TV news that we did not previously enjoy.

Oh come on.. If Fox is drawing more viewers, they MUST be cheating somehow.

I don't see what they're so concerned about anyway. Yes, people like Hannity and O'Rielly have their shows there but the basic news content doesn't seem all that more conservative than CBS, for example.

That's funny, I don't hear them whining for a conservative pundit to be added to the NPR lineup...

Did they ever consider that most of the American people are tired of the leftist propaganda we are being served night after night on CNN, CBS and MSNBC? Rush and Fox News have done us a favor and opened a lot of American's eyes to the left wing bias that the media have.

What ever happened to the saying, "Give the customer what he wants?"

This is supposed to be a capitalist democracy not a leftist gestoppo.

They are just jealous that Fox has outdone them as far as viewership.

It's not jealousy that drives this action from Moooo-veOn.org .

It's FEAR.

It is about control of the message that is allowed out to the unclean masses and regular slobs who don't have the mental capacity or connections to be "true " progressives like themselves.

Fox News has been on the rise and Rush was a significant contributor to the debacle of the 2002 Congressional Elections. They think they have hamstrung Sean Hannity because no new radio stations have joined his franchise since late 2002. Their Err America rat-hole is a complete flop and continues to sop up too much money that they feel must be used to "fire" W.

The politburo and Central Committee of the Left Wing Wackos must crush them or die an obscure death from irrelevance.

Well, she's one of two Senators from your state. Don't blame us.

Furthermore, Rush got on Armed Forces Radio because of popular demand. A poll was done, asking military folks what programs they wanted to have added, and they picked Rush - even though they had to WRITE HIM IN, because he wasn't one of the choices offered. Also, the station only carries one hour a day of his program (the first hour).

I guess the left does not think those in the military have the intelligence to know what they should listen to. They think the should listen to NPR and VOA and nothing else. They are pathetic.

"It's more evidence that the loopy left has taken over the liberal left."

This is all that needs to be known. The real scumbags of the left are now directing the party and they are going to pay dearly for decades...Let them keep putting these LOONEY LEFTIES out in front and center, attacking Bush and America for doing the RIGHT thing.

This is better than any ad Bush could ever "approve."

Hey MissyMa...

Hope the coffee is good!

These attempts lately by the Dems to muzzle conservative expression are a sign of desperation.

They know they're on a sinking ship, so they want to take many with them.

Be of good cheer. We will prevail!

Oh good Lord! Horrible Hillary and her minions can't stand it that ONE news show (FOX), out of all of them out there, is trouncing the other shows soundly. Yep, sounds like more of that VRWC business to me.

The question, I fear, is what do they will do after the Democrats and fellow Liberals pass "desperation"?

There's not much room before they come to violence.

Missy, I agree it's serious, but I think the loopy left (luv it!) has outfoxed themselves this time. They keep forgetting that conservatives are the thinkers and they are the feelers. Brains wins over angst every time.

The coffee is extra strong this morning. It should kick in within the next 10 minutes or so and then I will by human again.

I know we will prevail, but it is one of several hot buttons I have. I am very loyal to Fox and have been so since 9-11. They covered the nightmare better than any of the other networks and I loved how they allowed their staff to wear the American Flag pins on their lapels if they chose to.

The other networks avoided the American flag like a bad case of VD! Americans craved patriotism right after 9-11. It reassured them of our strength and unity. Fox was the only one who realized that. While the other networks were trying to disassociate themselves with this country, Fox embraced it.
