Isn't this a pretty sad commentary about how people make their decisions, even about such important matters, as who is going to lead our nation in a time of war?

Absolutely. This is the problem with Television. On Radio and in Print, people have to make a coherent point to gain followers. On TV, the images can form a false impression and the opportunity for bias is without limits.
