The numbers are about even when it comes to spending by the Kerry and Bush campaigns themselves, but Bush gets pummeled by outside pro-Kerry liberal groups. If W. loses the election, it may be entirely self-inflicted from signing McCain-Fiengold!

Still, I think it is fairly encouraging that things are close or Bush is even ahead (AP poll) during a period where Bush is being far outspent.

Rope-a-dope...

Kerry's strategy is to build momentum into the convention.....If he overspends now but gets some traction more money will open up during and after the convention....

IMHO....

Betting on the come......never a good strategy....

I think they spent about 85 million on ads, which tells me they spent about 100 million or so setting up GOTV.

Add all the Pro Kerry media crap and it's 20 to 1 on air time. Bush is holding steady and hasn't really spent much of the war chest.

The left is spinning in the wind.

When your only message is 100% pure bovine excrement, you can spend millions of dollars trying to sell it as perfume... but it is still only bull poop!!! :-)

I think they spending a bunch, close to 100 million setting up GOTV ops, the rest will be an ad bitz between the conventions when Kerry has to stick to the 75 million dollars.

If the election was today, which will be unconstitutional, I say Kerry 287 Bush 251.

We are in deep do-do.

Terrorists win.

Yes, we'd be deep in the John...AKA deep in number 2.

However, Bush has been doing better since the Breck Girl was announced as Veep candidate. He will prevail , by 5 to 7 pts overall I think. Heck, its probably wishful thinking, but there was a poll showing California in play (Kerry 47 Bush 46).

Bc'04 is keeping its powder dry for the fall. Kerry needs to spend because he's made no headway, and is in fact falling behind, in the polls. Interestingly, the more people hear from Kerry, the less they like him.

Uh! He has a plan.

Don't you listen???

Every stump speech contains that.... "I have a plan..."

So, see, we are in good hands.

....

I don't know what's in the plan. His mouthpieces on the talk circuit don't know what's in the plan. Edwards certainly doesn't know what's in the plan. And Kerry can't seem to tell anyone what's in the plan.

But he has "a plan."

I'm convinced. Where do I vote?

[end sarcasm at 'the plan' remarks. lol]

But when you are sending this message to a 100 million bovine eating creatures it has a message.

That poll is over a month old and the only one to show KKKerry less than double digit lead.

kerry should start skimming some of that money (if he hasn't been doing so already) so he has something to fall back on when Bush pummels him in the elections.

By "Fall," Do you mean before or after the Republican convention?

There is no reason to save *any* cash for use after the Republican convention since both candidates will be limited to a set amount of money to spend at that time.

The time to use the rest of Bush's pre-convention money would be immediately after the Democrat convention since Kerry can't use his pre-convention money to respond.

He'll win OH. Maybe by a bit smaller margin, but W will get Ohio. The union-sheep here in Akron are all against him (no surprise) but statewide, Bush should win by at least a couple points.

Wasn't that Howard Dean's strategy in the Iowa caucuses? Worked real well for him there, didn't it?
