Mattel downgraded amid 'sluggish' Barbie sales (MAT) By Tomi Kilgore
NEW YORK (CBS.MW) - Mattel (MAT) was downgraded to "sell" from "neutral" at Banc of America as the company's turnaround appears to be longer and more expensive than initially projected. Analyst Gary Cooper cut his price target to $13 from $18.50, and trimmed his 2004 and 2005 earnings forecasts. He sees evidence that Barbie sales are still "sluggish" and margins are expected to decline. Cooper also sees other headwinds facing the industry, such as the recent strengthening of the U.S. dollar, potential cost pressures from the floating of the Chinese yuan, high commodity costs and competition. The stock closed Tuesday down 15 cents at $17.93.

I saw an official Mattel Barbie the other day that I thought had in big letters “Call Girl Barbie”
This was not in a toy story but a supermarket…
But you had to look closer to see because of the letter fount it was really “Cali Girl Barbie” …….
I got the clear impression that the misleading letter fount/name combo was deliberate on Mattel's part to get the adult double take in the supermarket
