"ANTI-CHOICE"

"ANTI-CHOICE" [Jonah Goldberg]

From a long piece at MSNBC which tries too hard to be very clever about actors who get type-cast or "Zieringed" (after Ian Ziering from Beverly Hills 90210):

"And maybe everybody loves Raymond, but after the show goes off the air, we have to wonder who's going to love Patricia Heaton. Heaton plays Raymond's shrewish wife Debra with exactly one note, and spends her time off authoring obnoxious books about motherhood, supporting anti-choice organizations, and stomping out of awards shows hosted by the Osbournes." I know this is a small example of media bias, but can imagine a mainstream outfit calling pro-abortion activists "anti-life"?

I'm still waiting for them to so much as admit that Kerry is liberal.

I am more put off by calling her character 'shrewish.' I find her to be a refreshing and appealing tv wife and mother.

Certainly not a shrew. She is demanding and a b@llbuster for sure, but the truth is a lot of men like those qualities in a woman. I know I do! ;-)

"...we have to wonder who's going to love Patricia Heaton."

I have nothing but respect for Patricia Heaton. She walked out of the Emmys (is that the one that gives statues for TV?) last year because whoever was emceeing got too foul-mouthed. Good for her! Besides, she'll be making so much in residuals from "Raymond" she'll never have to work again unless she chooses to.

Every heterosexual man loves Patricia Heaton.

Note that the authors also included Kelsey Grammer on the list. Kelsey Grammer! The guy's been a megawatt TV star for 20 years, far eclipsing the lead in his first series, Ted Danson. Now why would Grammer qualify to be named on a catty has-been list and Danson wouldn't? Could it be because of Grammer's Republican-friendly politics and Danson's well known touchy-feely wibbawooism?

There is no lower lifeform than the so-called journalists who follow Hollywood, especially ones who write catty, totally useless critiques of a community that A) is not worth the attention, and B) they themselves couldn't succeed in in a million years.
