That would be lack of fashion sense.

Kerry's daughters couldn't shine the Bush daughter's shoes.

That tells me all I need to know.

Let them. It will go over with the undecided like the proverbial turd in the punchbowl. No one cares for the bashing of children of politicians so I say let the Rats show their true colors. It is their own throats they are slitting.

Do you read entire interview, blog, bulletin board, or whatever the samhill the correct term is?

There's some weird people out there. Some of the questions are perplexing.

People are affecting to believe that a young lady fresh out of college is out-of-touch with us commoners for liking Mexican food, Starbucks, and sushi. Geez, if we queried a representative sample of recent young lady college graduates, how many would express the same favorites? 25% maybe?

Weird, weird, weird.

If so, it should be all out retaliation on Kerry's wife and her financials, his divorce/child support records from his first marriage, Edwards family...anything and everything should be fair game. If they want to play it like that fine, but let them feel the results of their actions.

As a father of a daughter, I would take any attack on my child and respond in such a way that whoever attacked her wouldn't think about doing it again.

But in reality, I think Barbara Bush would take care of the situation directly. I would not want to get on her bad side.

I read most of the transcript so I could get a read on what was going on in the minds of these people, including the reporter.

The bias could not be any more obvious. The bile and hatred emanating from both the questions and answers is disgusting. Shame on the WaPo for even printing it and giving them another platform to spew. It's a pretty smarmy transcript, dripping with sneers.

Keeping Kerry company
By César G. Soriano, USA TODAY
CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa — It's July Fourth weekend, and Alexandra and Vanessa Kerry are shivering in a driving rainstorm, listening to their father make a speech.

As the rain grows stronger, half the crowd runs for cover. But the man stands his ground and keeps talking, oblivious to his daughters' discomfort. They're tired, soaking wet — and beaming with pride.

Anything to help their dad, Democratic Sen. John F. Kerry, become the next president of the United States.

Alexandra, 30, and Vanessa, 27, are the first-daughters-in-waiting.

The unmarried sisters live on opposite coasts but are so close they speak on the phone at least once a day when not campaigning together.

They don't look alike, and they have different personalities. But each knows what the other is going through.

"(Vanessa) is really one of the only people I can talk to about some of the things I experience," Alexandra says.

Alexandra, the tall brunette with model looks, is a filmmaker and actress who made headlines in May at the Cannes Film Festival when flashbulbs revealed she had little on beneath a sheer black dress. "Alex," or "A" as her family calls her, graduated from the American Film Institute last month. The L.A. resident describes herself as a bit of a dreamer.

Vanessa, a blonde with piercing blue eyes who resembles her dad, is a third-year med student at Harvard Medical School. "Nessa" is more intense and more private, yet more comfortable in front of the camera and well-versed in her father's platform.

(snip)

The women already have had close encounters with the tabloids.

Alexandra made global news with her wardrobe malfunction at Cannes, where she was screening The Last Full Measure, her short film about a girl waiting for her father to return from Vietnam.

"It was a beautiful dress that didn't withstand 3,500 flashbulbs," she says. "But 24 hours later, you just have to say it was a moment, time passes, and you hope you didn't embarrass your father."

Then there was the tabloid rumor in May that linked Vanessa to actor Ben Affleck after they made campaign appearances together, a rumor she laughs off.

"I can only assume (the rumor) was put out there by a Republican, as both women, in fact, clearly have better taste than that," Affleck jokes by e-mail. Vanessa and Alexandra "are remarkably grounded, well-rounded, down-to-earth people."

(snip)

Winning in November is going to be sooooo sweet.

Yes, it will.

IMO, the sweetest victory so far (aside from the great 1994 congressional massacre) was the 1988 Presidential wipeout. The Dems were so sure Dukakis was going to win. And seeing Rather on the verge of tears as he read the results just sealed it.

This victory will be even better. And I will spare no opportunity to rub their noses in it. I will not be a gracious winner this time.

I didn't see her in any "live" TV shots, so I don't know how see-through this dress really was...

But in fairness, you can don a black outfit that looks solid black when you're looking in the mirror at home, but when you get out in the bright paparazzi lights or stage spot lights, it suddenly becomes see through... it's possible she had NO IDEA that this dress would end up being see through in the bright lights. In which case, she must be horribly embarrassed at seeing photos like this.

So I'm not going to bash her for this photo without knowing more about the fabric. It may have been an innocent mistake.

Sounds like it's open season on The Washington Post, then. Here's a clip from an unpublished article of mine, minus the footnotes. The Philip Graham referred to is the Post publisher who was the wife of Katharine Graham:

---

Outside the War Department, [Felix] Frankfurter [whose Communist activity is the focus of my article--Fedora] used his former law clerks Joseph Rauh, Edward Prichard, and Philip Graham to create another branch of his apparatus, which can be called the Rauh-Prichard-Graham group. The Rauh-Prichard-Graham group supported Roosevelt's reelection in 1940, lobbied for US aid to Britain and Russia, and staffed wartime agencies, particularly the Office of Emergency Management (OEM) and its subagency, the Office of Production Management (OPM), which later became the War Production Board (WPB). The War Production Board was later found to have been infiltrated by at least half a dozen Soviet spies.

The Rauh-Prichard-Graham group included members who were involved in espionage activity and related subversive activity. After clerking for Frankfurter on the Supreme Court, Prichard had moved to the Justice Department, where he was regarded by J. Edgar Hoover as one of a group of Communists who had penetrated the department. Later, after Prichard had moved to the Treasury Department, he became the target of an FBI investigation which implicated Frankfurter and the Rauh-Prichard-Graham group. The investigation was initiated when President Truman ordered Hoover to investigate the White House staff to find out how telegrams reporting meetings between Soviet Premier Joseph Stalin and White House aide Harry Hopkins were being leaked to journalist Drew Pearson. A wiretap on Prichard's phone revealed that Frankfurter was colluding with Pearson. Follow-up wiretaps on Pearson and Brandeis-Frankfurter apparatus member Thomas Corcoran revealed that Corcoran and Rauh-Prichard-Graham group member Laughlin Currie had conspired to protect State Department official John Stewart Service from being prosecuted in connection with the leaking of classified government documents to the pro-Communist publication Amerasia. Currie was later exposed as a Soviet spy.

Currie belonged to a group within the Rauh-Prichard-Graham group which Rauh and Prichard referred to in later interviews as the "Goon Squad". The Goon Squad was composed of 15 to 20 second-line bureaucrats from various government agencies who regularly met in secret to exchange information from their respective agencies. Besides Currie, the Goon Squad included Leon Henderson of the Office of Price Administration; Isador Lubin of the White House staff; Robert Nathan of the OPM's Bureau of Research and Statistics Division; and David Niles of the White House staff. Niles, who also directed Northeastern University's Ford Hall Forum in Boston, regularly reported to Frankfurter on events in Washington and Massachusetts and acted as a spokesman for Frankfurter. While a member of the Rauh-Prichard-Graham group, Niles and some of his associates helped KGB agent Michael Burd obtain transit visas for other KGB agents.

[SNIP]

[After World War II] Frankfurter maintained contact with the remnant of the Rauh-Prichard-Graham group. He continued his relationship with Rauh and Graham, and he used his contacts in the wartime agencies the Rauh-Prichard-Graham group had infilitrated to build contacts in the postwar State Department.

The Rauh-Prichard-Graham group lost Edward Prichard after the war. Prichard began vocally criticizing President Truman, prompting Truman to have the FBI tap Prichard's phone to determine if Prichard might be the one responsible for leaking information from White House aide Harry Hopkins to journalist Drew Pearson. Prichard's career ended in disgrace in 1949 when he was jailed for vote fraud.

Despite the loss of Prichard, Joseph Rauh and Philip Graham remained politically prominent. Rauh and Rauh-Prichard-Graham group member Leon Henderson joined other leading liberals such as Eleanor Roosevelt in forming the Americans for Democratic Action (ADA), a lobbying group which attracted anti-Communist liberals and disgruntled ex-Communists by professing to be liberal but opposed to Soviet imperialism. The ADA played a leading role in the movement to discredit Senator Joseph McCarthy. Rauh also served as counsel for United Automobile Workers leader Walter Reuther when Reuther was investigated for union corruption.

Meanwhile, Philip Graham gained political prominence by marrying Katharine Meyer, a Communist fellow traveller [Footnote: "The young Katharine Meyer was friends with Communist labor leader Harry Bridges and in the 1930s Meyer was a prominent member of the American Student Union (ASU), a Communist-infiltrated group."] who was the daughter of Washington Post owner Eugene Meyer, an old friend of Frankfurter's. Using the Post, Graham developed powerful influence in Washington, taking a leading role in promoting the careers of Senator Estes Kefauver and Senate Democratic leader Lyndon Johnson, two future Vice-Presidential candidates. Graham also confided to Drew Pearson in 1958 that he was working to try to get Eisenhower's Secretary of State, John Foster Dulles, replaced by John McCloy. [Note: Since writing this draft, I have learned that in 1946 an FBI memo identified McCloy as a member of a Soviet atomic espionage ring which also included Alger Hiss and Dean Acheson.]

Frankfurter maintained his relationship with Graham and exercised influence at the Post. He also maintained his relationship with Prichard-Graham-Rauh group member David Niles, who served as President Truman's advisor on US policy towards Israel. Meanwhile Graham maintained his relationship with Rauh, joining forces with Rauh to promote the career and civil rights legislation of Lyndon Johnson.

While Frankfurter maintained contact with the former members of the Rauh-Prichard-Graham group, the wartime agencies the group had staffed were dismantled into other government agencies. An offshoot of the OEM's Divison of Information, the Office of War Information (OWI), which had been penetrated by at least half a dozen Soviet agents, transferred 7,482 staff members into the State Department, most of whom did not have security background checks run on them. A number of other wartime agencies were also absorbed into the State Department. As a result of this reorganization, the focus of Frankfurter's apparatus in the executive branch shifted from the Rauh-Prichard-Graham group to Frankfurter's main connection in the Truman administration State Department, Dean Acheson.

[SNIP]

The Legacy of Philip Graham

Philip Graham of the Rauh-Prichard-Graham group committed suicide in 1963, but he was survived by his wife Katharine, who used the Washington Post to perpetuate her husband's political influence. The Post played a role in helping the aforementioned IPS [Institute for Policy Studies] leak the Pentagon Papers, as well as helping Richard Nixon's enemies publicize the Watergate scandal.

Meanwhile, Katherine's brother-in-law Robert Graham became the governor of Florida, where the Post media empire was used to rig local elections. Katherine herself sat on the Commission on National Elections (CNE), a board of top media executives used to rig national elections. Prior to the Post publicizing the Watergate scandal, Assistant Attorney General Henry Petersen had warned Graham that Nixon had evidence of her role in election rigging and was pushing to have her FCC license revoked.

Also on the Post's Walter Pincus, see this thread starting at Post #1900. My own comments start at #2041.
