Some Dem Delegate Chiefs Say: No Crossing Picket Lines
Gov. Wants Dispute Over Before Convention

POSTED: 7:28 am EDT July 16, 2004
UPDATED: 7:30 am EDT July 16, 2004

BOSTON -- Several Democratic chairmen from around the country are urging their state delegations to honor Boston police union picket lines during the Democratic National Convention.

The union is promising to picket any parties or other gatherings where Boston Mayor Tom Menino is scheduled to attend.

The Boston Globe reported that the heads of the California, Ohio, Tennessee and Maine delegations have written letters or phoned members asking them to boycott those events.

The Boston Police Patrolmen's Association is locked in a bitter contract dispute with Menino.

Republican Gov. Mitt Romney unexpectedly entered the fray Thursday when he replaced the chairman of the state's Joint Labor-Management Committee.

Romney is hoping the new chairman, retired judge Samuel Zoll, will order expedited arbitration in an effort to settle the contract before the convention begins July 26.

Who are we supposed to root for in this dispute? Or is this another Iran/Iraq war -- just sit back and enjoy the carnage?

If the Democrats were not hypocrites, no one would show up at the convention in support of the striking union workers.

Our enemies overseas and within our borders are watching this and learning of new ways to operate against us with impunity.

Perhaps soon new "labor unions" will spring up in Afghanistan and Iraq and the Philippines, with the support and protection of the Democrat Party.

Yeah, but of course the Dems can be bigger union-busters than Andrew Carnegie if it serves their purpose.

The union is promising to picket any parties or other gatherings where Boston Mayor Tom Menino is scheduled to attend.

So, are they picketing Mayor Menino all day, every day, or only when he's at "parties or other gatherings" associated with the Dim convention?

Sounds like a good strategy to me. Let the games begin.

Put a cow catcher on the front of Meninos car and send him screaming through Boston on a four day drunk.
