If he's a marxist biologist, then he pretends to work in a fictitious field, I'd call it science fiction. Thus, the importance of his field is also fictitious. Hence whatever theatrics, boycotts etc. are happening there or are instigated by this guy are of fictitious value, not to be taken seriously or wasted time on.

1-2. there is no real loss
3. the only ones to feel any loss are fictitious people, like marxist biologists. - AND IT SERVES THEM RIGHT!!!
