Thanks for this. This has been a big topic of discussion amongst our happy little family here. I'm going to be spreading this around.

We still wonder if our votes are going to count, though. But we're voting anyway.

To hear this from someone in harm's way, whether civilian or military, is just painful!

We who are here need to make sure your votes ARE counted. I have done follow-up calls to voters who have had absentee ballots sent out, but not yet posted on the list as received in the elections office. The follow-up occurred too close to the election date to be beneficial to citizens on a long-term, far away assignment, though.

If absentee votes are submitted early, the voter could make arrangements with a trusted person to confirm its receipt at the elections office. It might make it more difficult to eliminate the vote from the count if they know someone is tracking it. If it hasn't been received when the inquiry is made, perhaps there would be time to request another ballot and repeat the process.

Just my thoughts. Hope some others can offer theirs. There has GOT to be a way to insure the counting of your votes!
