Who was the rookie that won the British Open last year? Is he doing anything this year? I went to school with his mom and his aunt and for the life of me I can't think of Janice's married name! (I even went to school with his dad--does that tell you anything about my memory?) Anyone know how he is doing?
Huh?
You're a moron.
Ben Curtis won last year. He didnt make the cut this year. Like many good players, Sergio et. al.
He is one in total earnings. $81 million last year. See Forbes mag latest issue. That is a big number one.

You wish you could sleep with him.
He did. From the AP article:
Then came the wild 18th, where both players had a chance to win.
Hamilton pushed his iron off the tee and into the rough, and chopped it across the fairway next to a guard railing that restricted his swing. He took a drop, then chipped to 20 feet and made bogey.
Els hit his approach to within the shadow of the flag, leaving him 12 feet away from the claret jug.
"Had he made it, I still would have been very happy," Hamilton said. "If you could have told me at the start of the week, 'We'll give you second place, you don't even have to bother showing up,' I would have probably said, 'OK.'"
It's a bummer when you "play safe" with an iron and still miss the fairway. Then, you're not only in the rough, you're 50-75 yards (maybe more) farther from the green than if you'd missed the fairway with a driver. And I should know.
Great tournament, and a great win by what seems to be a good guy. He sure had that "utility club" chipper working, and holed a bunch of medium-length, very missable putts. Most impressive given the pressure he was under.
Yeah, you got me.
The jealousy on this board is incredible.

I don't think I'd take it that far.
He set the bar pretty high his first years and had a very humble attitude about it. I've even seen him caddy for some of his buddies in other tournaments. That's a rare sight for one of his golfing stature.
I do notice a slight bit of arrogance in him after he has taken up with his girlfriend, however. I hope it's not the way he's going to be from now on.
Tiger will be back. I have faith in him.
Not saying he is not a good golfer. Just that he is overrated.
Tiger is closer and closer to getting it back to the old form. He is going through a majors slump the same way Nicklaus did (12 straight without winning one)at a similar stage of his career. I doubt that Tiger will ever be as dominant as we was in the late 90s/early 00s -- but what golfer ever was? Jones, Hogan, Jack the only ones who achieved anything close to such dominance. Woods has been supportive of Bush and the war in Iraq, so I give him points for that too. Although in fact most golfers are solid GOP (at least according to John Feinstein.)
That was one of his prime qualities that shined through from the 3rd Amateur championship he won. And he has only getten better at it, too. "It's all about me".
Hard to argue with that considering what he has done this year. Do you think that flap he had with his coach has had anything to do with it?
That's so true. Any jerk could win 4 major chapionships in a row and 8 majors before he's 30. I'm sure you'ld have done much better if you weren't so busy sweeping out Burger King.
That and getting sidetracked with the chick.
