AP: Clinton Adviser Probed in Terror Memos

WASHINGTON - President Clinton (news - web sites)'s national security adviser, Sandy Berger, is the focus of a criminal investigation after admitting he removed highly classified terrorism documents from a secure reading room during preparations for the Sept. 11 commission hearings, The Associated Press has learned.
Berger's home and office were searched earlier this year by FBI (news - web sites) agents armed with warrants. Some drafts of a sensitive after-action report on the Clinton administration's handling of al-Qaida terror threats during the December 1999 millennium celebration are still missing.
Berger and his lawyer said Monday night he knowingly removed handwritten notes he had taken from classified anti-terror documents he reviewed at the National Archives by sticking them in his jacket and pants. He also inadvertently took copies of actual classified documents in a leather portfolio, they said.
"I deeply regret the sloppiness involved, but I had no intention of withholding documents from the commission, and to the contrary, to my knowledge, every document requested by the commission from the Clinton administration was produced," Berger said in a statement to the AP.
Berger served as Clinton's national security adviser for all of the president's second term and most recently has been informally advising Democratic presidential candidate John Kerry (news - web sites). Clinton asked Berger last year to review and select the administration documents that would be turned over to the commission.
The FBI searched Berger's home and office with warrants earlier this year after employees of the National Archives told agents they believed they witnessed Berger put documents into his clothing while reviewing sensitive Clinton administration papers, officials said.
When asked, Berger said he returned some of the classified documents, which he found in his office, and all of the handwritten notes he had taken from the secure room, but said he could not locate two or three copies of the highly classified millennium terror report.

My guess is that if he is implicated in this scandal and the Oil for Food program, he will try to deflect the criticism by claiming: "if the Republicans weren't trying to impeach me over lying about Sex, I might have been able to pay more attaention to the Terrorists threat"
The rats will continue to get their just rewards -- slowly but surely, defeat at the ballot box.
Maybe not, but it was one of the only start up companies to get off the ground during the whole presidency. I do recall that the foreclosure and repossession businesses were hiring.

Seems like it had to come from someone involved in the 9/11 Commission. An aide, or one of the commissioners?
Wow is right. This not only has the potential for damage to Kerry, Berger, and Bill, but it could mean the end of presidential aspirations for Satan's Daughter.
They have nothing to do with the Berger investigation. The general public might be confused by the media and Democrat's spin on legislative issues. They won't be confused by the meaning of a former National Security adviser stuffing classified documents related to the investigation of the death of 3,000 Americans, down his pants.
I don't disagree, but I think they are hiding an A team of those who know how to play hardball and will play it over this issue. Blood is in the water.
I don't think it will affect Chelsea that much. Now Satan herself might be affected.

In order to construct a workable timeline from October 2003 on, we'd have to go through all the news stories day by day. Trying to see how the news fits in with what we are finding out now. Anydbody up for a spread sheet? LOL

I played in a rock band, worked a full time job and had an Uncle with a gas station.
I could give a carp less about politics at the time, was having too much fun meeting my wife and having fun.

Obviously was not into politics at the time since I was doing very well. I do remember saying what a Horses Ass as a President we had. Hell, everyone was saying it.
