J & K believe that whatever liberal Democrat replaces their "sacrifice," Dreier, will readily be defeated in the next election, and in the meantime won't make any difference in House votes. Balanced against this (they believe) is the "fact" that Dreier's defeat suddenly will "wake up" other elected representatives.
Dunno about that last part. Maybe. I sure as hell don't buy the first part.
Doesn't matter, because barring some unrelated scandal, etc., Dreier, who won by 30+% points in 2002, isn't going to lose just because John & Ken have lost their minds on this issue.
Why, Oh Why didn't they go after Republicans DURING THE PRIMARY SEASON instead? Support some unknown who's got the right views on illegals? That way, if they succeed, they're moving us RIGHTWARD instead of LEFTWARD. Leftward is nigh suicidal.
