Anonymous third-world officials aren't exactly the most reliable sources.
If you read the original Iraqi article, it's not even anonymous third world OFFICIALS; it's anonymous "political sources" who could be basically anybody, the yahoo intern at the from the office of the Iraqi Popular People's Party down the street, etc.
