I'm not surprised. Chrissy is as much a scandal monger as anybody. This is his chance to show his credibility by being a tough, "hardball" journalist. It's easy to pile on when something like this happens, so of course Chrissy is right there.
I'll make an assumption here. Berger is an obvious fall guy for Clinton. It's like in Congress, when someone votes for or against a bill, to keep their constituents off their back, but knowing it is a "safe" vote, because casting the vote made no difference to the end result. Chris is in "safe" mode here. He can freely attack Berger, because Berger is taking the fall for Clinton. Chris looks "good," but in reality, nothing about him has changed.
