Berger scandal may distract from Kerry's foreign policy

BY STEPHEN J. HEDGES

Chicago Tribune

WASHINGTON - (KRT) - With the Democratic convention drawing near, John Kerry's team of well-known foreign policy advisers has played an increasingly important role in setting a course for the nation if the Democratic candidate is elected in November.

But Kerry's prescription for U.S. engagement overseas has been short on details, and now Democrats and Kerry aides worry that disputes like the recent flap involving Samuel "Sandy" Berger will draw attention from the Massachusetts senator's ideas on foreign policy.

"recent flap involving Samuel "Sandy" Berger will draw attention from the Massachusetts senator's ideas on foreign policy."

Mmmm, now I'm thinking Kerry set him up for just that reason.

Yep. Apart from ass-kissing the behinds of Annan, Chirac, Schroeder and Putin. Fill me, cause I haven't a clue to John F*ckin's foreign policy vision.

You mean the policy of asking the U.N. and Jacques Chirac everytime we want to do anything? That policy?

I'm just waiting for the flip on "Not a clue" because I can't believe that Kerry or Terry didn't know.

I'm guessing that the "not a clue" will be flipped into...."Not a clue about which documents he stole" and and the flop will be "That Sandy told me that the matter was settled" and I took him at his word. i.e., Sandy is the fall guy all the way.

When did Kerry come up with a Foreign Policy? All he's done is criticize President Bush but he's had no solutions.

Kerry has gone on record as saying that he wants to redirect the WOT to being a crime rather than an act of war on us from the heathens. That means resurrecting the failed Clinton-Gore-Albright-Berger policy of appeasing the heathens. Albright is the worst person in the history of the republic ever to schlepp the diploportfolio.

That sentence ought to be taken out and shot. The "team" has NOT played ANY role in something that hasn't happened yet.

This is the beginning of the attack on Kerry by the Clintons. Berger steals the documents at the behest of the Clintons and then they leak the information about the investigation right before the convention. As Rush said, "you will never see the Clintons fingerprints on it."

It is also a distraction from the 9/11 report, which has criticizm of the Clinton administration (which they want forgotten forever) and of the Bush administration (which they want forgotten until Kerry loses and she is running), and as a bonus, documents which probably had damaging penciled notations in the margins by Clinton or his close advisors are stolen and destroyed.

I have not heard any foreign policy come form that camp of scum unless "I will go to the United Nations" is a form of foreign policy.

Advisers like Berger and cabinet mumblers like Mad Madeline and Atty Gen Reno in the Clinton administration are part and parcel of our current problems. Except take a fall and steal classified documents, Bergler could do little for the Johns and less for the U.S..

I second that. Why is it increasingly important? They are so sure they are going to get rid of Bush. And now they are referring to this as merely a "flap"!

Kerry has a foreign policy, but people have to vote for him in November to find out what it is. When he loses, we'll never know what it was.
