One guy I saw was wearing nothing but a Speedo swimsuit as he ran beside a bike.

A few days ago, a guy wearing NOTHING ran alongside (Armstrong?). The camera behind the two gave a good shot!

What truth is there to the stories about Lance's wife having affairs when they were married and that she left him???? She couldn't handle his intensity of training, etc.

That post is so incredibly full of internet gossip and outright lies I don't know where to start. Lance was single at the time of his diagnosis. Lance made the decision to freeze his sperm prior to his cancer treatments on his own. He was dating someone at the time, but it wasn't Kirsten. He didn't even meet Kirsten until she volunteered to do some work for his charitable foundation after his cancer treatments were over.

Kirsten has never spoken of infidelities. There is no mention of them in their divorce proceedings - it's just vicious internet rumor spread by people with small minds and petty jealousies.

Check your facts before you do the same.

I do not doubt it is true, I just feel anyone that has gone through cancer and survived and has had his marriage break up it is just somewhat crass to say

he wasnt married at the time of his diagnosis, lets do the math, Zero said he was married a "scant five years," ok, he has won 5 tours consecutively, he didnt finish the first tour post treatment, and he took a full year off post treatment due to not having a team and being mentally and physically defeated/depleted. Like I said in a different post, he was dating a woman while he was in his treatment, she stood by him through the entire ordeal, then they split, he saved his sperm due to the odds he would become impotent due to the severity of the cancer and the caustic action of the chemo. Being a young man he wanted to have a family and prepared for a future. He met his present wife at a charity event that she was involved with after his treatment was over. Please read his book or any book written on him, its worth the read and will motivate anyone.

America and Americans hated by others because we are successful. Doesn't matter if it is because of our financial successes, freedoms, military, or even our athletes.

Those Euroweenies that hate Armstrong should put up or shut up. Six in a row means all other cyclists are his bitch.

Armstrong isn't a saint, but he sure as heck is one tough competitor, an amazing athlete.

Not a problem. There more people who use facts to counter hateful gossip, the better.

"One wonders if this is an "isolated" phenomenon this year, or if the Tour is beginning to develop a form of its own "hooligan" culture, as have been the case with European football over the past several decades."

How about American "hooligan" culture, after major sports title games. Don't we have idiots that start business buildings on fire, loot them, etc.?

Both are inexcusable.

When you get a large enough crowd of people with too much time and too much booze on their hands, you get this sort of behavior. It is not excusable in any context. As I understand it, however, European football "hooliganism" is something of a distinct "culture," for lack of a better term. It would be unfortunate for cycling if a comparable phenomenon began to develop around it, although I don't think there's any real cause for concern at this point.

Some friends of mine just got back from europe. They said the worst treatment they received was in London. Tears in my eyes.
