The hijackers of United Airlines Flight 93 tried repeatedly to fend off passengers storming the cockpit in the final minutes before one of the hijackers, Ziad Jarrah, shouted “Allah is the greatest” and nosed the plane into a field in Somerset County, according to the final report of the September 11 commission.
The report includes a transcript of conversation captured by the cockpit voice recorder on the hijacked jetliner that shows the uprising started at 9:57 a.m. Sept. 11 after passengers onboard learned through cell phone conversations with family members that three other hijacked planes had been flown into buildings in New York and Washington.
As passengers began beating on the cockpit door, the report says, Jarrah rolled the airplane left and right, attempting to knock the passengers off balance. At 9:58:57, the report says, Jarrah began to nose the airplane up and down to topple the passengers outside the cabin door.
“The recorder captured the sounds of loud thumps, crashes, shouts and breaking glasses and plates,” the report states. At five seconds after 10 a.m., the recorder captured a conversation between Jarrah and another person, apparently another hijacker in the cockpit.
“Is that it? Shall we finish it off?” Jarrah asks the other person.
The other hijacker responds, “No. Not yet. When they all come, we finish it off.”
Fighting continues to be heard outside the cockpit. At that point a passenger is heard shouting, “In the cockpit. If we don’t we’ll die!”
Sixteen seconds later, a passenger yells, “Roll it!”
While the report does not state so, previous reports indicated that passengers might have used a beverage cart in an attempt to knock down the cockpit door.
At 10:01 a.m. Jarrah stopped the violent maneuvers with the airplane and said, “Allah is the greatest! Allah is the greatest!” He is then heard asking the other hijacker, “Is that it? I mean, shall we put it down?”
The other replies, “Yes, put it in, and pull it down.”
According to the report, the hijackers never left the cockpit, “but must have judged that the passengers were only seconds from overcoming them. The airplane rolled onto its back, and one oft the hijackers began shouting, “Allah is the greatest. Allah is the greatest.”
The aircraft struck the earth at 580 mph outside the Somerset County town of Shanksville, 20 minutes flying time from Washington.
“Jarrah’s objective,” the report says, “was to crash his airliner into symbols of the American Republic, the Capitol or the White House. He was defeated by the alerted, unarmed passengers of United 93.”

Federal policy caused that entire series of events:
Disarmed aircrew
Aircrew trained to meekly submit
An American public that had been taught cowardice, had it pounded into them.
One guy on an aircraft fought the hijackers and was cut to ribbons as his fellow Americans did nothing and rode to their deaths.
It will never happen again like that either. Everyone knows it will be a fight to the death of they are on a plane, train or bus that is being hijacked.
Get yourself a gun, get armed and stay alert. The more of us that stand ready, the greater our security. The government cannot win this fight for us, on the homeland, it is up to We The People.

What are you talking about? It was obviously a plot, and the black helicopters from the UN's secret underground lair fired a missile at the plane--that's why he says "put it in," don't you see? That's code to the pilot of the UN helicopter to fire the missile! God! This is so obvious!

A man and his wife that were friends of the family told me that. They’d been out doing chores and didn’t have any idea what was going on (with the attacks).
He claimed he was outside messing with his truck and heard the plane. He said he knew there was something wrong because he heard it and there was no airport nearby. Said it was low-ish in the sky when he saw it, that it was coming down at a pretty steep angle, and that it was nearly completely upside down.

But if we had an effective 527, they would take this clip, and the other related clips - and make it into a "this is what we are fighting for" ad, to wake up the sheeple who are fast asleep, and for whom 9-11 hardly even happened.
God bless these people and their families and friends. These passengers were Americans with nothing but sheer bravery and love of fellow man. Their actions, done while knowing they would be killed, saved untold numbers of lives on the ground, possibly in the United States Capitol building. We can never overpay tribute to their honor or bravery.
In my estimate, and of course it's God's call, but those hijackers are in Hell now. Good riddance.

Is there any reason why these heroes can't qualify for the Congressional Medal of Honor? If the award can only be given to members of the military, I believe they were all part of our militia and took it upon themselves to call themselves to active duty in a time of our dire need.

Just before 9:30, Jeremy Glick, 31, a sales manager for an Internet service provider, called his wife, Lyz. He asked if it was true that airplanes had been crashed into the World Trade Center. She said yes.
“Then he went into planning mode,” Lyz Glick recalled. “He said there were three guys as big as him [Jeremy, a former college judo champion, was 6 feet tall, 220 pounds] and they were thinking of jumping the hijacker with the bomb.”
At 9:42, Mark Bingham, 31, owner of a public relations firm in San Francisco and a rugby player, called his mother, Alice Hoglan.
“Mom, I want to let you know that I love you,” Bingham said. “I’m on a flight from Newark to San Francisco and there are three guys who have taken over the plane and say they have a bomb.”
There was a pause. Hoglan said she could hear murmurs of Mark conversing with others. Then the line went dead.
Todd Beamer, 32, an account manager for Oracle Corp. in Princeton, N.J., and a former college baseball player, couldn’t get hold of his wife, but did get patched through to Lisa Jefferson, a Verizon supervisor, at 9:45 a.m.
Beamer told Jefferson 27 of the passengers had been herded to the rear of the plane, where they were being guarded by the hijacker who said he had a bomb. There was another hijacker in first class, and two in the cockpit, he said.
As Beamer was concluding his conversation with Jefferson, Deena Burnett got another call from her husband Tom.
“They’re taking airplanes and hitting landmarks all up and down the East Coast,” she told him.
“OK,” Tom replied. “We’re going to do something. I’ll call you back.”
Beamer had put down the phone, but hadn’t hung it up. Lisa Jefferson heard him say: “Are you guys ready? Let’s roll.”

Don't judge those passengers too badly. It's all based on what you know. At the time of the first couple hijackings, standard procedure was that the hijackers would take over, fly the plane somewhere, land it, negotiate for a while, and then the inevitable commando raid would come and most of the hijackers and some of the hostages would be shot. There was no experience to indicate that anything else would happen. The passengers were shocked, not cowardly. The passengers on Flight 93 had the advantage of knowing what the likely outcome of their flight would be, and therefore took steps to prevent it.
As far as I am concerned, we have not paid back the Islamic trash that did this to America. Why is Iran and Saudi Arabia and Syria still standing. Why do we have such gutless wonders in our nation. We will not get another chance when Hanoi Johnnie and a democommie Rat congress takes over. The U.N. will forbid us to do anything!

There are a number of people who buy into his plan to have a parley with the terrorists because America is evil, lead by the idiot Bush and the corporate mastermind, Cheney. Kerry says threat of terrorism is exaggerated

GREENVILLE, S.C. — Sen. John Kerry of Massachusetts said during last night's Democratic presidential debate that the threat of terrorism has been exaggerated.
"I think there has been an exaggeration," Mr. Kerry said when asked whether President Bush has overstated the threat of terrorism. "They are misleading all Americans in a profound way."
The Flight 93 passengers and crew were the only ones to fully realize, due to the timeline, that the Islamofanatics had declared war and brought the battle to our shores. Those on the other flights didn't have the time.
As soon as the Flight 93 passengers and crew realized we were at war, they took the battle to the enemy....and, by sacrificing themselves, they stopped the plot and defeated the enemy in the battle by prohibiting the terrorists from flying the plane its intended destination for more death and destruction.
“Allah is the greatest. Allah is the greatest.”
I'd kill them with my own hands or die for the effort. Reading those words brings it all back, not that I'd forgotton. The American people should HEAR these tapes.

Well before then an Islamic terrorist co-pilot deliberately flew an aircraft into the Atlantic shouting "Allah Akabar" all the way down.
No, what happened was institutional cowardice, official policy that had been drilled into aircrew, based upon the false premise that arming the aircrew to defend the plane was bad, and that was based upon the same idiocy of telling the American people that being armed with a loaded gun to resist criminal agression was a bad outcome. Meeting the attack armed is the best possible outcome, and always has been. Nothing guarantees safety, but the best course is to have your gun at hand, loaded, and be ready to employ it.
ARM YOURSELVES AND BE READY AMERICA.
Homeland security is a "We The People" business.

BROKAW: We're back on stage at the Peace Center for Performing Arts in Greenville, South Carolina, with the seven presidential candidates contesting for the Democratic presidential nomination. South Carolina's primary is next Tuesday.
Senator Kerry, let me ask you a question. Robert Kagan, who writes about these issues a great deal from the Carnegie Institute for Peace, has written recently that Europeans believe that the Bush administration has exaggerated the threat of terrorism, and the Bush administration believes that the Europeans simply don't get it.
Who is right?
KERRY: I think it's somewhere in between. I think that there has been an exaggeration and there has been a refocusing...
I cried all over reading this, once again. Wished I could have reached out to help them. God bless them. They tried to help themselves.
He made a statement to the effect that the airplane was full of white whimps and that if more blacks flew they would have done something about it.
And our trustworthy government states, through inactivity and twisted reports, that eyewitnesses to airline crashes (Flight 800) are not trustworthy. Ah huh.

I had the same reaction you did. Seeing those new pictures of the jihadist scumbags getting wanded by airport security at Dulles and then walking onto the planes made me sick. It infuriates me that DOT is still obstructing the program to arm our pilots. That's literally suicidal.
To die with your hands at the enemies throat. Now that is the way to die. Sometimes when I think that America does not have the courage to fight anymore, I think of flight 93 and have hope for America.
