Oh, and if these flying carpets were anti-magnetic, what allowed the user to control their altitude and direction of travel?

not entirely a load of hokum. in fact, i own one ... an afghani bohkara. viewed at the right angle, and in the proper frame of mind, it acts as a single image stereogram, and the carpet does indeed appear to float approximately two feet above the ground. the effect is astonishing; frankly, i nearly dropped my drink the first time i noticed. it is now an after dinner parlor trick in my home.
