My thoughts are that I don't know why everyone puts so much trust in what Snopes.com has to say -their findings are consistenty see, hear, and speak no evil whenever it comes to any leftist cause or issue........

"I did the same untill I snoped the Kerry medals."

This and what they have on Hillary does make me wonder now about the accuracy of the rest of their site. It's too bad. There's so much junk going around the internet, a site that proves or disproves the stories or rumors is a good idea, but it has to be trustworthy.

There should be a way of finding other vets, in the same duty, who got 3 Purple Hearts, a Silver Star, and a Bronze Star in 4 months.

If Kerry was the only guy to do that, then something is definitely fishy, and Kerry should be called to answer for it.

Keeping some of his service records secret also smells rotten, and his antiwar stance after he got back to the states was really discraceful.

Actually not true at all if you look through the site...a wide variety of attacks on Bush are debunked in the "Politics" section.

People mainly get POed at Snopes because a lot of various conservative-oriented and religious forwarded e-mails they really wanted to believe in get debunked as well.

Look up the "Lee Greenwood is a draft dodger" story..they say it's false, and go into great detail in defending Greenwood.

Also this:

"Claim: During a 1972 trip to North Vietnam, Jane Fonda propagandized on behalf of the North Vietnamese government, declared that American POWs were being treated humanely and condemned U.S. soldiers as "war criminals" and later denounced them as liars for claiming they had been tortured.
Status: True."

Does that strike you as coming from a crazed Far-Left website?

I still wonder what the outcome was of the KGB's recruitment efforts on Herr Clinton was on his Moscow trip.

In that era, they routinely approached all possible prey, so it had to have happened.

And what's with all the pics? Did he bring his own camera crew with him to record his military service for future political value? If so, how craven.

It's worse. Long John Silver got a camera, and a couple of days after, took his boat and crew back to the supposedly VC territory, and re-enacted his heroic exploit for posterity.
It's now a run as feature attraction when you visit a Kerry home

Did I or did I not hear that someone had requested those files from the KGB, but they were "not available for review"?? Talk about a book - if any book publisher wants to subsidize my expenses, I'll learn Russian and dig up the crap myself. =)

I could be famous... like Ann Coulter!!

That is the thing that has always bothered me. I would have never occurred to me that anyone would actually have the gall to submit his/her own name on a application for an award for valor.

You'd be surprised how common this sort of thing is, in all areas of life. For example, most Pulitzer Prize winners nominate themselves.

Their only source is Kerry;s buddy Doug Brinkley.

I forget the exact subject, but just a few days ago someone posted a thread here about a Snopes article which claims that some embarrassing story about a Democrat was totally false. The only data they provided to substantiate their case was a letter, reprinted verbatim, written by someone involved in the matter, claiming it was false.

When it gets down to the nitty gritty, it doesn't matter one iota whether Kerry is the hero he claims to be or not. Commanding a swift boat for four months in Vietnam, almost four decades ago, is no resume enhancing qualification for applying for the job of Commander-in-Chief of todays military.

What pisses me off the most about Kerry and Edwards forever reminding us that John Kerry is a Vietnam Vet., is how while the Democrats had a Draft dodging, Vietnam war protesting, perverted scum, seeking the Oval office, those with military service running against their candidate were not allowed to mention their military service

Clinton faced real decorated war heroes, who were forbidden to use their veteran status as an advantage over the democrat's traitorous, draft dodging candidate, Bill Clinton

We could laugh at the assinity of the Democrats, except for the fact that they own the media which defines democrat's assinity as rational.

I think they are playing on the word "fishy" (ala what is is)

If the question had been properly framed: "John Kerry recieved his three purple hearts due to minimal and very minor injuries? Answer: True"

Lets be plain: Kerry used the letter of the law to violate the spirit of the law and remove himself from viet nam ASAP. Did he abuse the rules? Yes Did he find any excuse to get three purple hearts? HELL yes. Did he do it with intent to get out of viet name because three purple hearts were a go home card? YES

Snopes is just gaming the question to give the answer they want.

snopes should rephrase the question to not use the subjective word "fishy."

Did kerry nominate himself for his medals? Yes
Did kerry recieve very minimal injuries? yes

Fishy is a dodge.

I read that the Doc who pulled that sliver out, said roughly, this. It took more effort for Kerry to keep the sliver in his skin, waiting to find a doctor, than to just pull it out. He compared it to a small splinter that would have bled a drop and no more.

**It's a wonder that Kerry didn't put himself in for the Congressional Medal of Honor. The fact that he didn't, just shows what a penny ante, punk loser, he really is.**

maybe thats why he wants to be president....
hmmmmm

The question remains - who or what is "Snopes" and why should we put as much or more credence in his, her or its conclusions on an issue than on anyone else's who is able to gather information and parse it - such as the WSJ editorial board or better yet, ourselves - some matters, liberal and/or conservative are so easily and well documented that no one, except perhaps a revisionist historian, would try to refute or confirm them (true or false, Bill Clinton was impeached) - but the issue of Kerry's medals is still questioned by some who were there and since he refuses to release his recorde, is still very much up in the air - Snopes declaration that it is settled is IMO premature and presumptuous, and does raise more questions to me about their objectivity and fairness.....
