Over 90 percent of African Americans voted for Al Gore in the 2000 election; in deep South states like Mississippi, Gore's share of the black vote drew equal with or exceeded Bill Clinton's share in 1996. In other words, black Southerners vote almost uniformly for Democrats.

Mississippi has five congressional districts. Only one district has a majority black population, and it sends a Democrat (Bennie Thompson) to Congress. The next closest district has roughly a 46% black population, and it also sends a Democrat (Ronnie Shows) to Congress.

What have we learned? That race and politics are inseparable in Mississippi.

Did you just join today to misconstrue what I said in an article that was posted more than a month ago?

Nowherr did I say that blacks were not democrat everywhere for the most part, I said they are no more or less so in the south than they are anywhere else.
