I think Linda is dedicating the wrong song to Moore. Instead of "Desperado," it should be "Junk Food Junkie."

I was thinking of "Just Eat It!" by Weird Al Yankovic.

It's always fun to watch these people implode because they take themselves soooo seriously. Where's Barb Streisand been hiding lately?

she wants people to get their heads out of their mashed potatoes so that she (Linda) can eat them all herself.

Rush said something years ago, listen to what they are accusing others of, and they are usually describing themselves.

LOL  And Rush became his own poster boy.  :)

He never had a good word for anti-WODers, then gets busted for substance abuse himself. Sweet.

Good thing you are so pure that you can throw stones. I dont know who has been a bigger voice for conservatism in the last 16 years. You, perhaps?

This is a serious question: how can you be very good friends with preachy liberals? I have a hard time being friends with people who are apolitical, much less communist...

I refer you again to your own words -- Rush said something years ago, listen to what they are accusing others of, and they are usually describing themselves.
Newsweek

Virtually every newspaper dredged up this 1995 quote from Rush: “Too many whites are getting away with drug use. The answer is to ... find the ones who are getting away with it, convict them, and send them up the river.”

The penalty for illegally buying large quantities of prescription painkillers in Florida can be five years in jail, and contrary to some published reports, prosecutors do go after users as well as pushers—especially if they want to make an example of a celebrity.

The fall of a moralist is always a great American spectacle. The Elmer Gantry story—the righteous preacher who turns out to be a letch and a boozer—has a special resonance in a nation that postures as morally superior but enjoys sin. Nothing entertains (or instructs in the essentials of human nature) like hypocrisy on a grand scale.

I just read Simon Cowell's book, "I Don't Mean To Be Rude, But...," and he talks a lot about this phenomenon. One story in particular involved Mariah Carey. She'd cut a duet with his British band Westlife that he thought was awful and refused to release it. The terrified record company told him he'd have to tell her, so he said fine.

He arrived at her studio to find her surrounded by a huge entourage, all telling her that everything about her was wonderful: she was so beautiful, her clothes were perfect, all her ideas were brilliant, etc. He said he told her the song she'd produced was rubbish, and he wouldn't release it because it would damage both her career and Westlife's. He said you could have heard a pin drop: the entourage gasped and went dead silent. This had NEVER happened before.

He told her he'd only release it if he could completely replace the production behind the voice tracks. She agreed, he did, and it was her first number one hit after a long slump. But he said this was typical of many stars, who lose touch with reality because they surround themselves with people who insure they never hear a negative word. That's probably why Ronstadt was so shocked when her audience dared to rise up and tell her she was full of it.

Ok, and your contribution to the conservative cause?

My contribution as a libertarian is to help conservatives see authoritarian government no matter which side of the aisle is imposing it, and no matter what self-proclaimed 'truth detectors' tell you is its justification.

We can do away with the federal government, and that is fine with me. But here in reality, you may want to decide which of the two parties you would like to be in power, because that is what we are stuck with, in the here and now.

I'd don't recall advocating the elimination of federal govt. There are some things it does and needs to do. Defending the country is one. The funny thing is, one of the most detestable 'planks' of the Libertarian Party is its desire for open borders.

Open borders are the de facto situation with Republicans in control of government. We're accepting LP attributes because we're 'stuck with it.' Just don't try to tell us it's Conservative, though.

There just are not enough of people on board with closing or more tightly regulating the borders. I dont know how bad it will have to get for that to change.

The woman & I are both artist & we met in an art class 15 years ago. We don't talk politics, ever. Her husband travels a lot so we don't see much of them as a couple. We have gone out to dinner with the 2 of them twice in a year. Both of those times he has started to preach to me & I shut him up both times. As luck would have it they moved to Mexico last week. I will see them occasionaly when they are back in town but it is not a problem anymore. My husband does not want me to go down there to visit.

Thanks ! I'll pass that along.
